Vesak is a time of sharing, transcending all boundaries of religion, race, and social class. One of the main highlights of Vesak is the Dansal, where free food is generously offered to anyone, symbolizing the joy of giving and the happiness it brings. This year, RACUOCFMF, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Colombo Uptown and the Rotaract Club of Kantipur, proudly initiated the ‘Kos and Sambol Dansal’ for the third time named Dansal Drive 3.0. As a result of the brilliant planning, strong teamwork, and true dedication, the event exceeded all expectations and made a wonderful impact on the community.
On May 24th, 2024, the Dansal Drive 3.0 took place right in front of the University of Colombo main library, just like it did in previous years. This familiar spot became the heart of the event once again, drawing in the community for a joyful celebration. Despite the Dansal wrapping up in just 30 minutes, it’s important to acknowledge the months of hard work leading up to it. From forming the committee and handling public relations to securing funds, preparing the kos, and putting together decorations and arrangements, there was a ton of effort poured into making the event a success. Hardest of all was the preparation of the jackfruit.
Even though preparing jackfruit isn’t a walk in the park, the organizers of Dansal Drive 3.0 took on the challenge because they knew it would offer a nutritious and delicious meal, a favorite among locals. After careful consideration, the directors and chairpersons decided to serve jackfruit with coconut sambal. But making jackfruit wasn’t just about cooking – the organizing committee had to go the extra mile. They climbed the tall kos trees, chopped the kos fruits, cleaned them, removed the seeds, shed a few tears while peeling onions, grated coconut, and finally, cooked everything on wood stoves (all done the traditional way). Everyone from the club gathered at Asokaramaya Buddhist Temple bright and early at 6:30 AM to prepare this mouthwatering native dish. Since none of them were experts in cooking large quantities of jackfruit, we hired a chef to ensure that the kos with coconut sambal turned out just right. We can’t overlook the fact that the idea that boys can’t cook was completely disproven, as some of the best cooks turned out to be boys.
The organizers worked tirelessly to gather all the needed materials by May 23rd, ensuring smooth preparations. On the evening of the 24th of May, the freshly cooked jackfruit was transported to the university premises, but it is noteworthy that it took over 10 hours to clean and cook it all! At 5:30 PM, the delicious kos was distributed to all the participants, and our surprise, there were more people in line than we had anticipated. Witnessing the large crowd eagerly waiting to enjoy the kos and the smiles on the faces of our organizing committee members, it was clear that Dansal Drive 3.0 had been a resounding success. On May 29, 2024, the Rotaract Club of Kantipur organized a donation drive at Shree Bhanodaya Basic School, providing essential educational resources. Club members gathered various stationery items for students and packed juices like “Frooti,” along with registers for the school’s management. These items were then transported to the school. Upon arrival, the supplies were officially handed over to the school management, including Principal Mr. Bahadur Maharjan, project representative Miss Khusi Shrestha, and coordinator Mr. Alish Gurung. This event significantly enhanced the educational resources available to the students, fostering a better learning environment at Shree Bhanodaya Basic School.
This collaboration is a testament to the power of community and international friendship. The Kos Dansal 3.0 is not just about sharing meals; it symbolizes the boundless compassion and happiness that come from giving what we have to those around us. Through this event, we celebrate the true spirit of Vesak, where kindness knows no boundaries, and everyone is welcome at the table.
වෙසක් යනු ආගම, ජාතිය සහ සමාජ පංතියේ සියලු සීමාවන් ඉක්මවා බෙදාහදා ගැනීමේ කාලයකි. වෙසක් උත්සවයේ ප්‍රධානතම අංගයක් වන්නේ දන්සල වන අතර එහිදී ඕනෑම කෙනෙකුට නොමිලයේ ආහාර පිරිනමන අතර එය ලබාදීමේ ප්‍රීතිය මගින් ගෙන දෙන සතුට සංකේතවත් කරයි. මෙම වසරේ RACUOCFMF, Colombo Uptown හි රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය සහ කාන්තිපූර් හි රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය සමඟ එක්ව තුන්වන වරටත් දන්සල් Drive 3.0 ලෙස ‘කොස් සහ සීනි සම්බෝල දන්සල්’ අභිමානවත් ලෙස ආරම්භ කළේය. විචිත්‍රවත් සැලසුමක්, ශක්තිමත් කණ්ඩායම් ක්‍රියාකාරිත්වයක් සහ සැබෑ කැපවීමක ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස මෙම උත්සවය සියලු අපේක්ෂාවන් ඉක්මවා ගොස් ප්‍රජාවට අපූරු බලපෑමක් ඇති කළේය.
2024 මැයි 24 වෙනිදා දන්සල් Drive 3.0 කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ප්‍රධාන පුස්තකාලය ඉදිරිපිටදී පෙර වසරවල මෙන්ම පැවැත්විණි. මෙම හුරුපුරුදු ස්ථානය නැවත වරක් උත්සවයේ හදවත බවට පත් වූ අතර, ප්‍රීතිමත් උත්සවයක් බවට ප්‍රජාවගේ සිත තුළ ඇදී ගියේය. දන්සල විනාඩි 30කින් අවසන් වුවද මෙය මාසයන් කිහිපයක වෙහෙස බව පිළිගැනීම වැදගත්ය. කමිටුව පිහිටුවීමේ සිට මහජන සම්බන්ධතා හැසිරවීම, අරමුදල් සුරක්ෂිත කිරීම, කොස් සකස් කිරීම, සැරසිලි සහ වැඩ පිළිවෙළවල් එකතු කිරීම දක්වා, උත්සවය සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සඳහා විශාල උත්සාහයක් දැරීය. සියල්ලටම වඩා අමාරුම වූයේ කොස් සකස් කිරීමයි.
කොස් සකස් කිරීම උද්‍යානයේ ඇවිදීමක් මෙන් පහසු නොවන නමුත්, දන්සල් Drive 3.0 සංවිධායකයින් එම අභියෝගය භාර ගත්තේ එය ප්‍රදේශවාසීන් අතර ප්‍රිය කරන පෝෂ්‍යදායී හා රසවත් ආහාර වේලක් ලබා දෙන බව ඔවුන් දන්නා බැවිනි. සියලු කරුණු සලකා බැලූ අධ්‍යක්ෂවරු සහ සභාපතිවරු, පොල් සම්බල් සමඟ කොස් ලබාදීමට තීරණය කළහ. නමුත් කොස් සෑදීම ඉවුම් පිහුම් විතරක් නොවෙයි – සංවිධායක කමිටුවට ඊට වඩා ප්‍රයන්තයක් දැරීමට සිදු විය. ඔවුන් උස කොස් ගස්වලට නැඟ, කොස් ගෙඩි කපා, ඒවා පිරිසිදු කර, බීජ ඉවත් කර, ගාගත් පොල්,ළූණු කපන විට කඳුළුද වගුරුවා, අවසානයේ දර ලිපේ (සියල්ල සාම්ප්‍රදායික ක්‍රමයට) පිසූහ. සමාජයේ සියලු දෙනාම උදෑසන 6:30 ට පමණ අශෝකාරාම බෞද්ධ විහාරස්ථානයට රැස්වූයේ මෙම රසවත් දේශීය ආහාරය පිළියෙළ කිරීමටයි. ඔවුන් කිසිවකු කොස් ගෙඩි විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් පිසීමේ ප්‍රවීණයන් නොවූයෙන්, පොල් සම්බල් සමඟ කොස් ගැලපෙන බව සහතික කර ගැනීමට අපි කෝකියකු බඳවා ගත්තෙමු. හොඳම ඉවුම් පිහුම්කරුවන් පිරිමි ළමයින් බවට පත් වූ නිසා ‘පිරිමි ළමයින්ට උයන්න බැහැ’ යන අදහස සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම අසත්‍ය වූ බව අපට නොසලකා හැරිය නොහැක.
මැයි 23 වැනි දින වන විට අවශ්‍ය සියලුම ද්‍රව්‍ය එක්රැස් කිරීමට සංවිධායකයින් වෙහෙස නොබලා කටයුතු කළ අතර, මැයි 24 වැනි දින සවස් වරුවේ අලුතින් පිසූ කොස් ගෙඩිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාල පරිශ්‍රයට ප්‍රවාහනය කළ නමුත් ඒ සියල්ල පිරිසිදු කර පිසීමට පැය 10කට අධික කාලයක් ගත වීම විශේෂත්වයකි! සවස 5:30 ට, රසවත් කොස් සියලුම සහභාගිවන්නන් වෙත බෙදා හරින ලද අතර, අපව පුදුමයට පත් කරමින්, අපි බලාපොරොත්තු වූවාට වඩා වැඩි පිරිසක් දන්සල් පෝලිමේ සිටියහ. කොස් රස විඳීමට නොඉවසිල්ලෙන් බලා සිටි විශාල ජනකාය සහ අපගේ සංවිධායක කමිටු සාමාජිකයින්ගේ මුවෙහි සිනහව දැකීමෙන් දන්සල් Drive 3.0 අතිසාර්ථක වූ බව පැහැදිලි විය.
2024 මැයි 29 වන දින, කාන්තිපූර් හි රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය විසින් ශ්‍රී භානෝදය මූලික පාසලේදී අත්‍යවශ්‍ය අධ්‍යාපන ද්‍රව්‍ය සපයමින් පරිත්‍යාග වැඩසටහනක් සංවිධානය කරන ලදී. සමාජයේ සාමාජිකයින් සිසුන් සඳහා විවිධ ලිපි ද්‍රව්‍ය එකතු කළ අතර පාසලේ කළමනාකාරිත්වය සඳහා ලේඛන සමඟ “ෆ්රූටි” වැනි යුෂ පැකට් කළහ. පසුව මෙම භාණ්ඩ පාසල වෙත ප්‍රවාහනය කරන ලදී. විදුහල්පති බහදූර් මහාර්ජන් මහතා, ව්‍යාපෘති නියෝජිත ඛුසි ශ්‍රෙස්තා මෙනවිය සහ සම්බන්ධීකාරක අලිෂ් ගුරුං මහතා ඇතුළු පාසල් කළමනාකාරිත්වය වෙත සැපයුම් නිල වශයෙන් භාර දෙන ලදී. මෙම උත්සවය ශ්‍රී භානෝදය මූලික පාසලේ හොඳ ඉගෙනුම් පරිසරයක් පෝෂණය කරමින් සිසුන්ට ලබා ගත හැකි අධ්‍යාපන සම්පත් සැලකිය යුතු ලෙස වැඩිදියුණු කළේය.
මෙම සහයෝගීතාවය ප්‍රජාවේ සහ ජාත්‍යන්තර මිත්‍රත්වයේ බලය පිළිබඳ සාක්ෂියකි. දන්සල් Drive 3.0 ආහාර බෙදා ගැනීම පමණක් නොවේ; එය සංකේතවත් කරන්නේ අප සතුව ඇති දේ අප අවට සිටින අයට ලබා දීමෙන් ලැබෙන අසීමිත දයානුකම්පාව සහ සතුටයි. මෙම ඉසව්ව හරහා, කරුණාවට සීමා මායිම් නැති, සියලු දෙනාම සාදරයෙන් පිළිගන්නා වෙසක් උත්සවයේ සැබෑ අරුතඅපි සමරමු.

மே 24, 2024 அன்று, Dansal Drive 3.0 கடந்த வருடங்களைப் போலவே, கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழக பிரதான நூலகத்திற்கு முன்பாக நடைபெற்றது. இந்த பழக்கமான இடம் மீண்டும் நிகழ்வின் மையமாக மாறியது, சமூகத்தில் மகிழ்ச்சியான கொண்டாட்டத்திற்கு ஈர்க்கப்பட்டது. வெறும் 30 நிமிடங்களில் Dansal முடிந்தாலும், பல மாதங்கள் கடின உழைப்பை ஒப்புக்கொள்வது அவசியமானதாகும். குழு அமைப்பது மற்றும் மக்கள் தொடர்பைக் கையாள்வது, நிதியைப் பெறுவது, கோஸ் தயாரிப்பது, அலங்காரங்கள் மற்றும் ஏற்பாடுகளை ஒன்றிணைப்பது வரை, நிகழ்வை வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்துவதற்கு முயற்சிகள் கொட்டப்பட்டன. எல்லாவற்றிலும் கடினமானது பலாப்பழம் தயாரிப்பது.

Club இல் உள்ள அனைவரும் பிரகாசமாகவும் அதிகாலை 6:30 மணிக்கு Asokaramaya Buddhist Temple இல் கூடி, இந்த வாய்க்கு ருசியான பூர்வீக உணவை தயார் செய்தனர். அவர்களில் யாருமே பெரிய அளவில் பலாப்பழம் சமைப்பதில் நிபுணத்துவம் இல்லாததால், தேங்காய்ச் சம்பலுடன் கூடிய கோஸ் சரியாக வருவதை உறுதிசெய்ய ஒரு சமையல்காரரை நியமித்தோம். சிறந்த சமையல்காரர்களில் சிலர் சிறுவர்களாக மாறியதால், சிறுவர்களால் சமைக்க முடியாது என்ற எண்ணம் முற்றிலும் நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டது என்ற உண்மையை நாம் கவனிக்காமல் இருக்க முடியாது.
மே 23 ஆம் தேதிக்குள் தேவையான அனைத்து பொருட்களையும் சேகரிக்க அமைப்பாளர்கள் அயராது உழைத்து, சீரான தயாரிப்புகளை உறுதி செய்தனர். மே மாதம் 24 ஆம் திகதி மாலை, புதிதாக சமைக்கப்பட்ட பலாப்பழம் பல்கலைக்கழக வளாகத்திற்கு கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டது, ஆனால் அனைத்தையும் சுத்தம் செய்து சமைக்க 10 மணி நேரத்திற்கு மேல் ஆனது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது! மாலை 5:30 மணியளவில், அனைத்து பங்கேற்பாளர்களுக்கும் சுவையான கோஸ் விநியோகிக்கப்பட்டது, எங்களை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தும் வகையில், நாங்கள் எதிர்பார்த்ததை விட அதிகமான மக்கள் வரிசையில் இருந்தனர். கோஸ்ஸை ரசிக்க ஆவலுடன் காத்திருந்த பெருந்திரளான கூட்டத்தையும், எங்கள் ஏற்பாட்டுக் குழு உறுப்பினர்களின் முகத்தில் புன்னகையையும் பார்த்தபோது, Dansal Drive 3.0 அமோக வெற்றி பெற்றது. மே 29, 2024 அன்று, Rotaract Club of Kantipur Shree bhanodaya basic school இல் நன்கொடை இயக்கத்தை ஏற்பாடு செய்து, அத்தியாவசிய கல்வி ஆதாரங்களை வழங்குகிறது. Club உறுப்பினர்கள் மாணவர்களுக்கான பல்வேறு Stationary பொருட்களை சேகரித்தனர் மற்றும் பாடசாலை நிர்வாகத்திற்கான பதிவேடுகளுடன் “Frooti” போன்ற பழச்சாறுகளை பேக் செய்தனர். பின்னர் இந்த பொருட்கள் பாடசாலைக்கு கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டன. Principal Mr. Bahadur Maharjan, project representative Miss Khusi Shrestha, and coordinator Mr. Alish Gurung உட்பட பாடசாலை நிர்வாகத்திடம் பொருட்கள் அதிகாரப்பூர்வமாக ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டன. இந்த நிகழ்வானது மாணவர்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும் கல்வி வளங்களை கணிசமாக மேம்படுத்தி, Shree bhanodaya basic school இல் சிறந்த கற்றல் சூழலை வளர்த்தது.
இந்த ஒத்துழைப்பு சமூகம் மற்றும் சர்வதேச நட்புறவின் சக்திக்கு ஒரு சான்றாகும். Kos Dansal Drive 3.0 என்பது உணவைப் பகிர்ந்துகொள்வது மட்டுமல்ல; இது நம்மைச் சுற்றியுள்ளவர்களுக்கு நம்மிடம் இருப்பதைக் கொடுப்பதில் இருந்து வரும் எல்லையற்ற இரக்கத்தையும் மகிழ்ச்சியையும் குறிக்கிறது. இந்த நிகழ்வின் மூலம், வெசாக்கின் உண்மையான உணர்வைக் கொண்டாடுகிறோம், அங்கு கருணைக்கு எல்லைகள் எதுவும் தெரியாது, மேலும் அனைவரும் மேசைக்கு வரும் போது வரவேற்கப்பட்டார்கள்.
