Project ‘Iftar’ took place on the 8th of May 2023 at Swarnasilva Reception Hall in Rajagiriya. This annual club gathering, organized by the Rotaract Club at the University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance, aimed to celebrate the Eid festivities through an Iftar feast. Iftar, traditionally observed during Ramadan, is a time for sharing, feasting, and celebrating. In an effort to promote a sense of closeness within the community, the club decided to conduct their annual club outing with a unique twist this time.
‘ඉෆ්තාර්’ ව්යාපෘතිය 2023 මැයි මස 8 වනදා රාජගිරිය ස්වර්ණසිල්වා උත්සව ශාලාවේ පැවැත්වුණි. කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ කළමනාකරණ හා මූල්ය පීඨයේ රොටරැකට් සමාජයේ වාර්ෂික හමුවීම මෙලෙස ඉෆ්තාර් සංග්රහයක් ලෙසින් ඊද් උත්සවය සැමරීමේ අරමුණින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද්දකි. රමළාන් මාසය තුළ සිදුවන ඉෆ්තාර්, බෙදාගැනීම, සංග්රහ කිරීම, හා සැමරීම යන ඒවාට වූ කාලයයි. සමාජය තුළ සුහදත්වය ප්රවර්ධනය කරනු වස්, මෙවර වාර්ෂික හමුවීම මෙලෙස වෙනස් අයුරින් සංවිධානය කරන ලදි.
இப்தார் திட்டம் 2023 ஆனது, மே 8 ஆம் தேதி ராஜகிரியவில் உள்ள ஸ்வர்ணசில்வா வரவேற்பு மண்டபத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழக முகாமைத்துவ மற்றும் நிதி பீடத்தில் ரொட்ராக்ட் கிளப் ஏற்பாடு செய்த இந்த வருடாந்த கிளப் ஒன்றுகூடல், ஈத் பண்டிகையை இப்தார் விருந்து மூலம் கொண்டாடுவதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டது. பாரம்பரியமாக ரமழான் காலத்தில் அனுசரிக்கப்படும் இப்தார், பகிர்வு, விருந்து, மற்றும் நட்புக்கான கொண்டாட்டத்திற்கான நேரமாகும். சமூகத்திற்குள் ஒரு நெருக்க உணர்வை ஊக்குவிக்கும் முயற்சியில், கழகமானது அவர்களின் வருடாந்திர கிளப் பயணத்தை இந்த முறை ஒரு தனித்துவமான திருப்பத்துடன் நடத்த முடிவு செய்தது.
The members of the Rotaract Club eagerly joined together on that memorable night, participating in a variety of enjoyable games and activities. Laughter filled the air as everyone immersed themselves in the festivities. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the delicious Biriyani and watalappan, which delighted the taste buds of all those in attendance.
The occasion turned out to be an overwhelming success, with individuals expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to come together and celebrate in such a fun and engaging manner. However, the event was not without its challenges. Despite encountering obstacles along the way, the club members gained valuable experience and successfully navigated through them. This only added to the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among the participants.
The co-chairs of the project, Rtr. Sethum and Rtr. Piyumi, played an instrumental role in the organization and execution of the event. They meticulously planned and managed the finances, public relations, and all other essential aspects, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. The supportive committee members also contributed significantly to the event’s success.
Rtr. Thinali and Rtr. Chanuka, the avenue directors, were the driving force behind making this event a reality. Their unwavering support, guidance, and advice were invaluable throughout the entire planning process. With their expertise and dedication, they motivated the club members to work tirelessly, resulting in a remarkable celebration of Eid.
Beyond the joy of the feast and games, the event served a larger purpose. It fostered a sense of unity and togetherness within the club and the wider community. The Iftar feast provided an opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs to come together and appreciate one another’s company.
As the night came to a close, hearts were filled with gratitude and satisfaction. The Rotaract Club at the University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance had successfully organized an Iftar feast that not only celebrated Eid but also promoted understanding, friendship, and a sense of community among its members.
In conclusion, the annual Iftar feast organized by the Rotaract Club was a resounding success. The efforts of the co-chairs, Rtr. Sethum and Rtr. Piyumi, along with the support of Rtr. Thinali, Rtr. Chanuka, and the entire committee, made the event truly memorable. Through delicious food, engaging activities, and the spirit of unity, the club members created an atmosphere of joy and celebration. The Iftar feast served as a reminder of the power of coming together, regardless of differences, to foster a sense of belonging and friendship within the community.
