Project “Hade Veena” was an initiative taken by the Club service avenue for the first time in our club history, aiming to showcase the talents of young university artists within the university in a public setting and to promote “Mandaawa” as a potential setting for future events.

“Hade Veena” was an outdoor musical event that created a chillout evening vibe where you can listen to your favourite mix of Sinhala classical light songs. All the singing group members and the band were university students. As a result, it was an excellent opportunity for these young artists to showcase their talent and gain confidence. It was also an excellent opportunity for all of us to establish friendships among faculties and batches. Even in these challenging economic conditions, our tickets were issued at low prices, and this low-ticket price attracted a larger crowd because our primary target was to entertain and provide a memorable experience to a large number of university students.

The event was scheduled to begin at 5.30 p.m., however, due to the occurrence of heavy rain, there was a slight delay and a change in the stage plan, and the event then began as planned. Following that, everyone gathered at “Mandaawa” to tune into the event which was lit up. As the event went on, the outstanding crew members, including 12 girls and 4 boys, performed several classical Sinhala songs and several dance items, which the attendees highly enjoyed.

Starting off with some slow Sinhala classics, the event turned into a pleasant evening. The night gradually changed into a different vibe as the tempo increased. Later that night, the event concluded as all participants danced the night away to attractive Sinhala tunes.

All the undergraduates who took part in this event had a tremendous musical experience that left them with a lot of positive feedback and wonderful memories and in a very short period, it established “Hade Veena” as a brand name.

Finally, we hope to continue this relationship with the Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance for future years, assisting a community in need, bringing forward new ideas, and increasing awareness of community essentials with love and happiness. This event will stand out on the Rotaract calendar and serve as a fantastic event.
