The Rotaract Club of Colombo Reconnections stepped into another promising year with the 2nd Installation Ceremony which was held on the 7th of August 2022 after concluding a successful charter year. The event was held at the Royal Skills Centre from 3pm onwards. Representing RACUOCFMF, Rtr. Theeksha Gunasighne, Rtr. Janul Abeysuriya, Rtr. Chanuka Semith, Rtr. Vishvi Wijetunge and Rtr. Melisha Gonaduwa attended the ceremony to congratulate the upcoming board.
The event started off with the host for the evening welcoming the guests followed by the dignitaries lighting the traditional oil lamp; afterwards all rose for the national anthem which was followed by the conventional Rotaract Formalities: The Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, Four-way Test, and the Rotaract Song.
The host then diverted the attention of the audience to a very interesting video of the Incoming President Rtr. Yaswind Rodrigo. Even though it caught Rtr. Yaswind off guard, the audience was able to get a big laugh out of it. Next, Secretary for the RI year 2021-22, Rtr. Sethna gave the secretary’s report in which she spoke about the successful projects carried out by the club for the year and thanked the board for the RI year 2021-22 for making it a memorable one.
Next, the Outgoing President, Rtr. Chirag Amith addressed the audience through a video message as he was unable to attend the ceremony. Through his speech about the incoming president, he made sure that Rtr. Yaswind’s contributions to the club were highlighted and recognized. Next up Rtr. Yaswind Rodrigo was gracefully collared as the president for the RI year 2022-2023.
Rtr. Yaswind Rodrigo then took the spotlight to speak a few words about his board and the outgoing board; and took the chance to thank the dignitaries and guests for being a part of the event. Moving on, the president introduced his board members and clicked photographs to capture the moment.

Then came the highlight of the evening, the most awaited entertainment items. First off Rtr. Sethna sang ‘’Moves Like Jagger’’ hyping up the entire audience. It was indeed a spectacular performance by her. Then it was the time for the newly appointed Secretary Rtr. Burhaan Faique to show his colours. He sang ‘’Urvashi’’ which made the president himself run to the mic and join his secretary. It was quite the show, and the audience was able to get a good glimpse of their chemistry.
Then tokens of appreciation were given to all the dignitaries and following that, the stage was open for felicitations. With the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Secretary for the RI year 2022-23, Rtr. Burhaan Faique, the exceptional and entertaining occasion was concluded for refreshments and continued fellowship.
It was indeed a great pleasure for the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance to be part of this glorious ceremony and we would like to extend our heartiest wishes to Rtr. Yaswind Rodrigo and his Board of Directors for yet another amazing and fruitful year ahead!
