The spirit of sportsmanship was on full display at the University of Colombo grounds on January 20th, 2024, as the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance joined hands with the Rotaract Club of NIBM to host the much-anticipated “Battle of Colombo” cricket match. This friendly competition, held from 3 p.m. onwards, brought together 25 enthusiastic participants from both clubs, including both girls and boys, for an afternoon of fun-filled cricketing action.
The event served as a testament to the inclusive nature of Rotaract, with members from diverse backgrounds coming together to celebrate their shared love for cricket and their commitment to service. The atmosphere was electric as players took to the field, their passion for the game evident in every bat stroke and delivery bowled. Cheers and laughter filled the air, creating a vibrant and festive ambiance enjoyed by all. With 15 members representing the Rotaract Club of NIBM and 10 members from the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance, the teams were evenly matched, ensuring a thrilling contest from start to finish. However, beyond the competitive spirit, what truly defined the “Battle of Colombo” was the sense of friendship that permeated every moment of the match.
As the sun began to set and the match drew to a close, it was clear that the event had been a resounding success. Regardless of the final score, everyone emerged as a winner, united by the bonds of fellowship and the shared values of Rotaract. The “Battle of Colombo” served as a reminder of the power of collaboration and the importance of coming together as a community to make a positive impact. As participants bid farewell to the University of Colombo grounds, they did so with hearts full of joy and memories that would last a lifetime. The success of the event was a testament to the dedication and teamwork of both clubs, and it underscored the enduring spirit of Rotaract in bringing people together for a common purpose. With the echoes of cheers still ringing in their ears, participants looked forward to future collaborations and opportunities to make a difference, both on and off the cricket field.
කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ කළමනාකරණ සහ මූල්‍ය පීඨයේ Rotaract සමාජය, NIBM හි Rotaract සමාජය සමඟ අත්වැල් බැඳගනිමින් බොහෝ දෙනෙක් අපේක්ෂාවෙන් සිටි “Battle of Colombo” ක්‍රිකට් තරගය 2024 ජනවාරි 20 වන දින කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ක්‍රීඩාංගනයේ දී ක්‍රීඩාශීලිත්වයේ අභිමානය මනාව විදහා දැක්වීය. මෙම සුහද ක්‍රිකට් තරගය පස්වරු 3 සිට පැවැත්වුණු අතර, විනෝදයෙන් පිරුණු ක්‍රිකට් ක්‍රියාදාමයක් සඳහා සවස් වරුවේ ගැහැණු ළමුන් සහ පිරිමි ළමුන් ඇතුළුව උද්යෝගිමත් සහභාගිවන්නන් 25 දෙනෙකු සමාජ දෙකෙන්ම එක් කළහ.
මෙම උත්සවය Rotaract හි අන්තර්ගත ස්වභාවය පිළිබඳ සාක්ෂියක් ලෙස ක්‍රියා කළ අතර, විවිධ පසුබිම්වල සාමාජිකයන් ක්‍රිකට් සඳහා ඔවුන්ගේ ආදරය සහ ඔවුන්ගේ සේවයට ඇති කැපවීම සැමරීමට එක් විය. ක්‍රීඩකයින් පිටියට පිවිසෙන විට වටපිටාව විද්‍යුත් විය, පිත්තේ සෑම පහරකින්ම සහ පන්දු යවන සෑම පන්දුවකදීම ක්‍රීඩාව සඳහා ඔවුන්ගේ ආශාව පැහැදිලි විය. ප්‍රීති ඝෝෂා සහ සිනහවෙන් පිටිය පිරී ගිය අතර, සියල්ලෝම රස විඳිමින් විචිත්‍රවත් සහ උත්සව වාතාවරණයක් නිර්මාණය කළහ.
