Magic of Christmas: A Season of Joy, Love and Giving

The ebullience of Christmas is palpable across the globe come each festive season. This can be seen in how streets come alive with lights, houses are buzzing with excitement from the beautifully decorated trees and of course the sweet scent of fresh cookies baking in the oven. For most Christians, the 25th of December signifies a time to be with family, be filled with joy and of course to be grateful, and the best thing is that it is not only specific to a religion but all people of the world.

So Christmas is not limited only to Christian faith, it is a spirit that encompasses all love and charity. Starting from the Christianity, it is associated with the birth of Jesus Christ. Kingdom Come is now celebrated along with all the traditions that seem in the context regardless of the faith or region from where they originated spanning over centuries. Gift giving, and singing carols, are all festive customs that highlight the significance of love and giving.Comforting aspect about Christmas for me has to be family reunions. It is the one time in the year, out of the endless into focus routines, when people get a chance to stop for a moment, catch up and make good memories. All through the Christmas holidays, from family dinners to telling of stories next to the fireplace, this are the rites that connect the lineage. For a good number of people, it is also a chance to take stock of the past year and to appreciate good things while also helping the less fortunate. Yes, Christmas does an awful lot of good but it also does the exact opposite. For instance, people should be more caring towards the people around them and help them out in any way possible. All of those charitable donations, and community dinners are the true meaning of the holiday season, that is- helping people out without expecting anything back.

These days the movement to celebrate Christmas while being more sustainable is gaining traction. The concerns of how people celebrating Christmas with Eco friendly wrapping papers or local gifts are rather very fascinating. This ensures that the magic of Christmas is not worked on by putting the planet at a loss. The one thing that needs to be noted in this day and age, is what is most valuable for the society, the love, the compassion, and the togetherness. Even though Christmas is widely associated with jolly decorations, and pleasing food, it is the time given by people, the care, and the experience shared that outweigh everything. This time around, let’s not forget what Christmas really means. Let’s help out people who require help, don’t be shy to shower love, as what you are looking for is not a day, rather it’s a state of mind, an idea that springs. It goes like this, don’t fret too much because kindness, joy and hope will erase the dark January gloom.

Merry Christmas !
