HONOURED AND SEALED – MOST OUTSTANDING FUND RAISER IN AID OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

 

 

Always bearing the spirit of service at their hearts, Rotaractors strive for greater heights in order to create everlasting positivity within the community. Passionate young Rotaractors are never too hesitant to accept the challenge of fundraising to serve the great motive of community service and this edition of the ‘Honoured & Sealed’ presents such incredible fundraiser campaigns that were well recognized and rewarded as the ‘Most Outstanding Fundraiser in Aid of Community Service’ at the 31st Rotaract District Assembly.

සැම විටම ආත්මීය සේවය හදවත තුල දරමින්, රොටරැක්ටර්වරු ප්‍රජාව තුළ සදාකාලික ධනාත්මක ආකල්පයක් ඇති කිරීම සඳහා හැකි ඉහලම මංපෙත් වලට ලගාවීමට උත්සාහ කරයි. ප්‍රජා සේවයේ ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨ අරමුණු ඉටු කිරීම සඳහා අරමුදල් රැස් කිරීමේ අභියෝගය භාර ගැනීමට දැඩි උද්‍යෝගිමත් තරුණ රොටරැක්ටර්වරු කිසි විටෙකත් මැලි නොවන අතර ‘HONOURED & SEALED’ හි මෙම ලිපිය මඟින් 31 වන රොටරැක්ට් දිස්ත්‍රික් සමුළුවේදී ‘Most Outstanding Fundraiser in Aid of Community Service’ ලෙස හඳුනාගත් ඉතා විශිෂ්ට අරමුදල් රැස් කිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘති ඉදිරිපත් කරනු ලබයි.

தங்கள் இதயங்களில் எப்போதும் சேவை மனப்பான்மையை தாங்கி, ரோட்டராக்டர்கள் சமூகத்தில் நேர்மறையான தாக்கத்தினை நித்தியமாய் உருவாக்க அரும்பாடு படுகிறார்கள். ஆர்வமிகு இளம் ரோட்டராக்டர்கள் சமூக சேவையின் பெரும் நோக்கத்திற்காய் சேவை செய்வதற்காக, நிதி திரட்டும் சவாலை ஏற்க என்றும் தயங்குவதில்லை. இந்த பதிப்பானது ‘Most Outstanding Fundraiser in Aid of Community Service’ என 31வது ரோட்டரக்ட் மாவட்ட சபையில் அங்கீகாரம் அளிக்கப்பட்ட சிறந்த திட்டங்களைப் இந்த பதிப்பானது நோக்குகின்றது.

Gold – Freedom Fund (Rotaract Club of Uva Wellassa University of Badulla)

Freedom Fund was an astounding fundraiser project organized by the Rotaract Club of the Uva Wellassa University of Badulla, to aid the projects Freedom Week and Freedom Shelter which were set with the solicitude of rescuing animals from cruel caging and slaughtering. The fundraiser campaign was carried out with the joint efforts of the Interact Clubs in Badulla, students of Badulla Maha Vidyalaya and the undergraduates of the Uva Wellassa University of Badulla where handmade memorabilia, crafts, sweet treats and other food items were sold aiming the last year’s Christmas season.

Further, the project was successfully able to launch a social media campaign named, ‘Calling for Volunteers’ that attracted direct funds from generous donors to save the lives of innocent animals. The organizing club was able to partner up with the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Insee Cement Corporation and Elephant Aid organization to ensure the long-lasting sustainability of the project. The success of the project, ‘Freedom Fund’ is indeed evident by the approximate fund of Rs. 900,000 that was raised at the conclusion, which was then efficiently utilised to save animals that were in dire need of being rescued.

Silver – Care Center (Rotaract club of Colombo Central)

Amidst the pandemic, the Rotaract Club of Colombo Central, the Rotary Club of Colombo Central, the Interact Clubs of St. Joseph’s College Colombo and St. Thomas’ Preparatory School jointly launched a commendable initiative by the name ‘Care Center’, to provide essential equipment to Sri Lankan hospitals that are engaged in a constant battle against COVID-19.

An effective fundraising campaign was launched by the organizing clubs to reach out to numerous generous donors who were willing to contribute to the endeavour. Undeniably, the project attained its objective as the organizing clubs were successfully able to purchase and donate a high flow nasal oxygen machine worth 1,300,000LKR (approx.) to the Teaching Hospital Ragama.

Bronze – Hand in Hand (Rotaract club of University of Moratuwa)

‘Hand in hand’ is a remarkable initiative of the Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa with a history of 5 years that is constantly engaged in creating a relief to the children residing at Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama, children and adult resident cancer patients of Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya who are fighting for their lives to rejoice in their world with big dreams. Hand in hand took an innovative approach where, “a cancer awareness campaign” was carried out through a blog article series and a flyer series to spread awareness on cancer & cancer causatives, types of cancer and cancer policy of WHO. Moreover, there was a movie review on movies that were based on the true stories of cancer victims which were also featured through the blog articles.

The initial fundraising was launched at the Colombo International Book Fair which was then carried out as an online selling campaign for Christmas that sold stickers made of beautiful arts and creations of child cancer patients to the public. Another phase of the campaign was to sell printed T-shirts during Vesak for their club members. As a result of all the commendable efforts, the project was able to raise a fund exceeding 350,000LKR to enlighten those beautiful souls. Through all the challenges they encountered during the pandemic, the Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa was able to create a better world for those patients and to give out a valuable message to society by project HAND IN HAND.
