Bearing unity and companionship in their hearts, Rotaractors constantly strive to achieve greater heights through collaborative efforts and as a result, the top tiers of such amazing endeavours were rewarded as the Most outstanding initiatives in line with the district year theme, ‘Strive As One’ at The 31st Rotaract District Assembly. Challenging themselves through a variety of obstacles, even amidst the pandemic, all these Rotaract clubs were able to achieve the pinnacle of creativity empowered through a strong sense of fellowship among one another. This article is in tribute to the title-winning projects and for all the hard work that indeed took them to become the most outstanding from the rest. 

සමගිය හා මිත්‍රත්වය සිතැතිව සහයෝගයෙන් ඉදිරියට යාමට වෙර දරන රොටරැක්ට් සමාජිකයන්ගේ ප්‍රයත්නයෙහි ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස ඇගයීමට ලක් වූ, අපූරු උත්සාහයන්ගෙන් සමන්විත වූ වඩාත් කැපී පෙනුන ව්‍යපෘති’ කිහිපයක් “Strive As One” යන දිස්ත්‍රික් වර්ෂයේ තේමාවට අනුගතව පැවැත්වූ, 31ක් වන රොටරැක්ට් දිස්ත්‍රික්ක රැස්වීමේදී සම්මානයට පාත්‍ර විය. වසංගතය මධ්‍යයේ වුවද විවිධ වු බාධක අභිබවා අභියෝගය ජයගනිමින් මේ සියලුම රෝටරැක්ට් සමාජ නිර්මාණශිලිත්වයේ උපරිමයට ළඟා වූයේ ඔවුන් අතර තිබූ දැඩි එකමුතුවෙහි ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙසිණි. මෙම ලිපිය එම සම්මානලාභී ව්‍යාපෘති සහ එලෙස වඩාත් කැපී පෙනෙනු ව්‍යාපෘති සාර්ථක කරගැනීමට වෙර දැරූ සියලුදෙනාගේ ප්‍රයත්නයන්ට උපහාරයක් ලෙස පුදන වගයි.

மாவட்ட வருட கருப்பொருளான “Strive As One” க்கு அமைய 31வது ரொடரக்ட் மாவட்ட கூட்டத்தில் சக ஒத்துழைப்புடன் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட மேன்மையான  திட்டங்கள் மிகச் சிறந்த முயற்சிகள் என வெகுமதி அளிக்கப்பட்டன. தற்போதைய தொற்றுநோய்க்கு மத்தியில் பல இடையூறுகளையும் கடந்து இவ்வனைத்து ரொடரக்ட் கழகங்களும் சகோகதரத்துவத்தின் முலம் தமது ஆற்றல்களின் உச்சத்தை அடைந்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இக் கட்டுரை தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட திட்டங்களுக்கும் அவற்றுக்கு பக்கபலமாக இருந்த கடின உழைப்புக்கும் சமர்ப்பணம் ஆகும்.

Gold – SLAMM (Rotaract clubs of University of Colombo)

Proving the power of companionship at its most, SLAMM, the annual entertainment event organized by the five Rotaract Clubs of the University of Colombo was able to lock the gold award of the category. This edition of SLAMM which was quoted, The Great Escape, was undeniably a fun-filled experience that came into action because of the harmonious joint efforts of the Rotaract Clubs of Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Management and Finance and the Faculty of Medicine. Unlike the previous years, even though the event was held through virtual platforms, it served nothing but the best for the participants.

From solving puzzles to the riddles to the hidden maps and clues, The Great Escape created a one-of-a-kind virtual treasure hunt experience that had all its participants at the edge of their seats until the very end. The strongly established fellowship among the organizing clubs is evident for the success of the longstanding legacy of SLAMM.

Silver – Together As One  (RAC Alumni of University of Moratuwa)

Project “Together as ONE”, an initiative by Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa contributes towards the social harmony of society while resolving peace and eradicating all forms of social conflicts. The project was held in the form of a series of friendly discussions on timely topics that focused on privacy concerns with social media platforms. The first phase was conducted focusing the peace and conflict resolution centring on our communities and localities with the participation of members of the Rotaract club of Katugasthota Region and Rotaract Club of Rathnapura.

Through the discussion, the participants were given a clear understanding of data privacy and information privacy and the points including the significance of data privacy such as data protection laws all around the world, indeed gave participants the knowledge required to maintain proper control over their data, because Privacy gives us the power to choose our thoughts and feelings and who we share them with.

The three phased project of “Together as One” was successfully concluded by empowering the participants with the insights to know for what their data is used, by whom and why, and what really hides behind those three simple words; “Yes, I agree”.

Bronze – E-BUDDY

The project E-Buddy Network 2.0, was rewarded by the bronze award of the category as it brought a safer alternative solution to the fellowship visits, which were halted due to the travel restrictions and for the safety of the community. The project was organized by the Rotaract Clubs of Achievers Lanka Business School, Australian College of Business & Technology, Athugalpura, Colombo Fort, Colombo West, Faculty of Science – University of Colombo, Hatton – Kotagala, Informatics Institute of Technology, Jaela – Kandana, Kandy, Katugastota Region, Trincomalee, University of Peradeniya, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and the University of Uva Wellassa – Badulla for the second consecutive year. The organizing clubs took a commendable joint effort in making the impossible possible by connecting many participants despite the geographical boundaries, to create a memorable experience. The project was held in the form of team activities that took place within a span of two weeks and through which the host clubs were successfully able to inculcate team spirit, professionalism, and a wide variety of soft skills within the participants.

The host clubs assuredly succeeded in creating a network among the passionate young Rotaractors, that indeed served the core objective of the project E-Buddy Network 2.0, which is to promote inter-regional fellowship and engagement among Rotaractors from all the regions in Sri Lanka.
