Lead Tomorrow 2022, was a panel discussion organized by the Rotary Club of Colombo Midtown and the Rotaract club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance. It was held at the East wing auditorium of the Management Faculty on the 21st of October 2022. The theme of the discussions was “Inspiring the Future Entrepreneurs to Restart Sri Lanka”. Mr. Dian Gomez was the key speaker of the event, while the CEO and founder of the brand Double XL, Ms. Adhisha H. Dahanayake, and Mr. Chandran Rutnam, who is the CEO of the Asian Aviation Center as well as a Veteran filmmaker, both participated as panelists. Rtn. Aashiq Aminuddin was the host for the evening, while Rtn. Rashini Bandara moderated the panel discussion.
Lead Tomorrow 2022, කොළඹ මිඩ්ටවුන් රොටරි සමාජය සහ කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ කළමනාකරණ සහ මූල්ය පීඨයේ රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය, විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද සංවාද සාකච්ඡාවකි. එය 2022 ඔක්තෝම්බර් 21 වන දින කළමනාකරණ පීඨයේ නැගෙනහිර අංශයේ ශ්රවණාගාරයේදී පැවැත්විණි. මෙම සාකච්ඡාවේ තේමාව වූයේ “ශ්රී ලංකාව නැවත ආරම්භ කිරීමට අනාගත ව්යවසායකයින් දිරිමත් කිරීම”යන්නයි. මෙම උත්සවයේ ප්රධාන කථිකයා ලෙස ඩයන් ගෝමස් මහතා සහභාගී වූ අතර, ඩබල් එක්ස්එල් සන්නාමයේ ප්රධාන විධායක නිලධාරී සහ නිර්මාතෘ අධීෂා එච්. දහනායක මහත්මිය සහ ආසියානු ගුවන් සේවා මධ්යස්ථානයේ ප්රධාන විධායක නිලධාරී මෙන්ම චිත්රපට නිෂ්පාදකයෙකු වන චන්ද්රන් රත්නම් මහතා ද සහභාගි විය. Rtn. ආශික් අමිනුදීන් සහ Rtn. රෂිනි බණ්ඩාර විද්වත් කතිකාවත මෙහෙයවන ලදී.
லீட் டுமாரோ 2022, கொழும்பு மிட் டவுன் ரோட்டரி கிளப் மற்றும் கொழும்பு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் ரோட்டராக்ட் கிளப், மேலாண்மை மற்றும் நிதி பீடம் ஆகியவற்றால் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்ட ஒரு குழு விவாதம். இது 2022 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஒக்டோபர் 21 ஆம் திகதி முகாமைத்துவ பீடத்தின் கிழக்குப் பகுதி கேட்போர் கூடத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. கலந்துரையாடலின் கருப்பொருள் “இலங்கையை மீண்டும் தொடங்குவதற்கு எதிர்கால தொழில்முனைவோரை ஊக்குவித்தல்” என்பதாகும். முக்கிய பேச்சாளராக திரு. டியான் கோம்ஸ் கலந்துகொண்டார். டபுள் எக்ஸ்எல் பிராண்டின் பிரதம நிறைவேற்று அதிகாரியும் நிறுவனருமான திருமதி. அதிஷா எச். தஹாநாயக்கா மற்றும் ஆசிய விமானப் போக்குவரத்து மையத்தின் பிரதம நிறைவேற்று அதிகாரி மற்றும் அனுபவமிக்க திரைப்பட தயாரிப்பாளர், திரு. சந்திரன் ருத்னம் ஆகியோர் இருவரும் குழு உறுப்பினர்களாக பங்கேற்றனர். Rtn. ஆஷிக் அமினுதீன் மாலை நிகழ்ச்சியை தொகுத்து வழங்கினார். குழு விவாதத்தை ராஷினி பண்டார நெறிப்படுத்தினார்.
The first speaker of the day was the panelist Ms. Adhisha H. Dahanayake. She shared what inspired her in the very first place to start her own clothing brand and how she managed to overcome the hardship that got in her way and turn it into the globally recognized clothing brand that it is today. She also mentioned that courage, conscientiousness, perseverance, and resilience are important qualities that an entrepreneur must have.
The second speech was conducted by the renowned filmmaker and entrepreneur, Mr.Chandra Ruthnm. He shared his personal experiences on how he was courageous enough to enter into the film industry by himself at a very young age and how he was able to be the line producer on several international movies, includingIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. As his advice to young entrepreneurs, he said, “Have a dream and go for it, don’t stop because a lot of people stop just before they get there. They work so hard and go right up to the winning post, but they quit just before the winning post, so don’t give up and go for it.”
Mr. Dian Gomez, the event’s keynote speaker, is the Honorary Consul of Georgia in Sri Lanka and the former chairman of Hela Clothing and Group. He stated that if hard work is combined with wise decision-making from a young age, it creates a stronger foundation for success and that winners should always be able to handle the defeat that comes their way, as it will eventually lead to success. He also shared his perspective on the role of leadership when it comes to entrepreneurship.
The audience was given the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts during the panel discussion, which was a huge success. Finally, the event was concluded by thanking the panelists and all participants.
We believe that this session was extremely useful for all our Rotaractors and we hope they would try hard at putting into practice the concepts of the course. The trick is to continuously try and put these leadership concepts into practice so that it becomes second nature. And a huge thank you to all the panelists for inspiring all of us with your own stories.
