The Rotaract Club of Colombo West proudly organized the West Skate Day for the 12th time on 23rd of July at Viharamahadevi Park from 4.30 pm onwards for all the rollerblading enthusiasts in Sri Lanka to learn inline skating. The event was organized in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Rollerblading Club.
Initially the professional skaters from the Sri Lanka Rollerblading Club conducted a demonstration with all the safety measures for the beginners. At the same time, they explained how skating supports a person to maintain mental and physical health in a higher range. Afterwards the participants got the opportunity to enjoy their skating experience with the support from the professional skaters. The rollerblading shoes and other safety wear such as helmets, elbow pads and knee pads provided by the Sri Lanka Rollerblading Club, ensured a safe skating experience for all. The stunning skating stunts performed by the stuntmen were an absolute treat to watch in an atmosphere that was already oozing with fear, excitement, laughter and FUN!

West Skate Day provided a platform to not only learn skating but to also develop long lasting fellowship.
Looking back at this day, I realized that “Rotaract” too is also like skating in a way. With concentration, balance and passionate effort, you’ve to journey along the path, except that the road might be rockier when it comes to Rotaract making it even more memorable and beautiful. It’s not easy and it’s certain that you’d fall or slip at one point. But there’ll always be someone to boost your confidence, guide you along and lift you up to do better. (And they’d certainly laugh too!)
