In the Heart’s Embrace

Love is like seeing sunrise for the very first time in your life. The overwhelming feeling of happiness where you can’t wipe off the smile that hurts your cheeks or stop the tears from blurring your eyes just because it assures you that new beginnings do look beautiful and promising. Love is where you cry and make up after a fight with your best friend, the anger and frustration just melting amidst the long hugs and the strings of apologies. It lies in the simple words “I missed you”, and “I was worried about you”.Love lies in places where you least expect to find it. It lies in the face of a toddler who sees their mother after the first day of school. In the tears of a father who has just seen her daughter escape the claws of death. In the words of a mother who is scolding her son and pinching him in the ear. In the twinkle in your dog’s eye when you say that she’s been a good girl. And most importantly it lies within you when you decide to forgive and be kinder to yourself and give a bit of all that love you’ve been pouring to others to yourself.Love is when you are held by the hand when crossing the road. It’s when you’re being held a little longer and a little tighter while words of reassurance are whispered into your ear. It’s when you know you can cry your heart out and still not be judged. At the end of the day, the reason to fight for and not let go. Love does take many outlooks, many forms, and many illustrations. But the rarest kind is the pure unadulterated love that comes from the ones who do not owe you anything but will fight the world to protect the pureness in you.
