Percy was known for coming up with rhyming couplets for specific players, tailored to the match he was following. This added an extra layer of excitement and humor to the game.
Percy’s dedication didn’t go unnoticed by the international cricket community. Renowned cricketer Martin Crowe even awarded one of his Man of the Match trophies to Percy as a token of appreciation for his unmatched passion for the game. In a heartwarming gesture, as recently as the Asia Cup this year, Rohit Sharma visited Percy in his home, showing support as he battled the illness that would eventually claim his life.Uncle Percy’s passing marks the end of an era in the world of cricket fandom. His love, enthusiasm, and unique brand of support for Sri Lankan cricket made him a beloved figure not only in Sri Lanka but also among fans across the globe.
