The Rotaract Club of CINEC campus recently commemorated their 7th installation commencing at 10.30 a.m. with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp. Rtr. Matheesha Hirun, the Sergeant at Arms, called the house to order to begin the ceremony filled with feelings of gratitude, introspection and recognition. The assembly honoured both the national anthem and the Rotaract song and conducted various Rotaract formalities like the flag salutation, Rotaract invocation and the Rotary Four Way test.
The outgoing secretary for the year 2023-24, Rtr. Rinza Dawood presented the Secretary’s report, highlighting the hard-earned achievements of the past year where the club notably completed 43 projects and were awarded 7 awards at the Rotaract District Assembly in recognition as well. Immediate past president Rtr. Helika Adikary took the spotlight to give his final address taking time to show his gratitude to his team and everyone who supported this wonderful cause throughout the year. Thereafter, Rtr. Helika Adikary gracefully handed over the reins of the club to the incoming president, Rtr. Thenuk Senaratne, officially marking the beginning of his term as President of the Rotaract Club of CINEC campus for the Rotaract Year 2024-25. In his address to the audience he mentioned his aim for the year was to empower the legacy handed down to him and his team and to enrich others’ lives through their projects. Past President Shanel Mendis shared a few inspiring words to the audience. One of his most impactful messages was that “When you go to bed and you remember the things you do to the community that’s what matters at the end of the day” highlighting the core values of Rotaract and serving the community.
Similar sentiments were shared by the Guest of Honour, Dr. Ajith Madhurapperuma who complimented the club and its outgoing leadership for changing lives and reiterated that any act done for the community will impact not only the community at large, but also their own lives. Finally, after the distribution of the tokens of appreciation, and heartfelt sharing of felicitations, the newly appointed Secretary for the year 2024-25, Rtr. Thamali Girihagama expressed her gratitude to all contributing parties who helped navigate a successful year and the attendees who made the event a success in her Vote of Thanks.
