The Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science University of Colombo, was very proud and remembered the day, July 2025, when the club convened a party to honor its 23rd Installation Ceremony. It was an event that was carefully planned but staged with a lot of spirit and was a veritable act of fellowship, thankful giving, and young leadership.
Opening the Ceremony
Rtr. Reshini Balasuriya started off the evening with a warm welcome speech. Reshini Balasuriya, who prepared the overture of the ceremony by emphasizing the values of service and leadership that help to run the club. The Secretary then gave the Report of the Association to the audience. Kavindi Hettiarachchi’s Secretary Report , which provided a description of the results and projects of the club in the previous year.
It is hard to believe that a Year of Service has passed.
Immediate Past President (IPP) Rtr. Shenal Wickramasinghe went to the stage and presented an emotional and heartful exposition. He looked back at his Rotaract life and came up with experience that led to his leadership. He acknowledged all his team, the District Steering Committee, his parents, GCC Rtr. Harini, and former presidents such as Rtr. Nikitha whose leadership was so critical to the success of the club.
Service letters too were made in his segment where the efforts and contribution of members in the course of the last year was honored.
Embracing the New Leadership.
The best part of the event was the speech by the future President in 2025-26, Rtr. Nethmina Ediriweera. He was passionate and visionary as He told the club his plans about the coming year and this gave the club hope about its future.
Words of Inspiration
The service was also blessed by great speeches by prominent personalities:
- Chief Guest: Rtn. President of Rotary Club of Colombo Downtown, Mindula Perera.
- Guest of Honour: Rtn. Abirami Ragunanthan, Assistant district rotaract chair.
- Special Address: Rotaract District Representative (DRR) Rtr. PP Nazmi Mahamood
By encouraging them through their words, the members understood how well Rotaract and Rotary were connected and how its members were encouraged to work towards serving the people and doing so with zeal and creativity.
Gifts of Thankfulness and Congatulations.
District participants such as Praneeth, Kalana, Yasiru, Dulan and Akila were also given tokens of appreciation as a show of their appreciation. After this, the opening of felicitations was announced and those wishing to offer their blessings to the new board came forward to offer their help.
Closing the Evening
It was a nice ceremony that came to an end with a Vote of Thanks given by Rtr. Mokshana Alahakoon, the Secretary, 2025-26, and very emotional in thanking everyone who made the event a success.
A New Journey Ahead
The transition ceremony was not only a transition ceremony but also a continuity ceremony – a celebration of success, an acceptance of gratitude and a new dream. The Rotaract Club of Faculty of Science University of Colombo is now prepared to venture into another productive year with a new and committed board whose commitment to fellowship, service, and the inexhaustible energy of the members of the club.
