Homesick for an Era

Nostalgia

Unappeased,

It asks to feel, not mend,

Not change the past, just touch it once again.

Memories whisper,  nostalgia will not bend

It makes more noise than silence ever can.

It proves I lived a life worth missing,

Sure,

A fact that comforts briefly, then feels cruel.

I cross old places, homesick, nauseous, pure

The cost of knowing time does not renew.

One day the fort came down, We built with our siblings,

One day the toys were shelved, then left alone.

We played outside “just once more” like we should,

Unaware we’d never sleep back in that home.

A blessing?

Or a

Curse?

I will answer when I’m through

Homesick for lives that time won’t let me redo.
