“Community service: where the hands extend beyond oneself, reaching into the heart of humanity”.
The Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance organized Project Parithyaaga under the Community Service Avenue, aiming to provide immediate assistance to those affected by devastating floods in the Galle District. As an initial step, we coordinated with the Disaster Management Centre in Galle and secured their assistance in identifying families most in need. Consequently, we identified 150 families from Niyaagama, Thawalama, and Naagoda, 50 families from each of these areas. It’s noteworthy that Deutsche Bank partnered with us, providing the necessary financial support for the project.
Subsequently, our team finalized the dry ration packs for each family and purchased them accordingly. On February 18th, our team journeyed to Galle to distribute these packs to the identified families. The Disaster Management Centre in Galle and the regional secretariat offices in the three areas played pivotal roles in facilitating the program. During the distribution event, speeches were delivered by the Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre in Galle, as well as the Divisional Secretariat Officers of Niyaama and Thawalama. They emphasized the significance of such initiatives for the affected communities. The recipients of the dry ration packs expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the support extended to them. In return, Rtr. Hirumi Tharushika, the Community Service Director, conveyed thanks to all local authorities and Deutsche Bank for their invaluable contributions, which ensured the success of Project Parithyaaga.
Many members of our club contributed to the success of this project by lending their time and efforts. It was heartening to see a significant turnout of volunteers who assisted in packing the dry rations. Our President Rtr. Vishvi Wijetunge and Secretary Rtr. Melisha Gonaduwa was actively involved and provided invaluable support throughout the process. It was this collective effort that enabled us to execute the project flawlessly, ensuring that assistance reached those who needed it most. As a team, we felt immensely satisfied by undertaking a project of this nature, knowing that our efforts directly impacted on the lives of those affected by the floods in Galle. Witnessing the gratitude and relief on the faces of the families receiving assistance was truly rewarding. This experience has further fueled our commitment to serving communities in need, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to embark on similar projects in the future. Our resolve to make a positive difference in the lives of others remains steadfast, and we look forward to continuing our journey of service and compassion.

කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ කළමනාකරණ හා මූල්‍ය පීඨයේ Rotaract Club විසින් ප්‍රජා සේවා මාවත යටතේ පරිත්‍යාග ව්‍යාපෘතියක් සංවිධානය කරන ලද අතර, ගාල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ විනාශකාරී ගංවතුරෙන් විපතට පත් වූවන්ට කඩිනම් සහන සැලසීමේ අරමුණින් එය සිදු කෙරිණි. මූලික පියවරක් ලෙස අපි ගාල්ල ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානය සමඟ සම්බන්ධීකරණය කර වඩාත් අවශ්‍යතා ඇති පවුල් හඳුනාගැනීම සඳහා ඔවුන්ගේ සහාය ලබා ගත්තෙමු. ඒ අනුව Niyagama, Thawalama සහ Naagoda යන ප්‍රදේශවලින් පවුල් 150 බැගින් මේ සෑම ප්‍රදේශයකින්ම පවුල් 50 බැගින් හඳුනා ගත්හ. ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා අවශ්‍ය මූල්‍ය ආධාර ලබා දෙමින් Deutsche Bank අප සමඟ හවුල් වීම කැපී පෙනේ.
ඉන්පසුව, අප කණ්ඩායම විසින් සෑම පවුලකටම වියළි සලාක ඇසුරුම් අවසන් කර ඒ අනුව ඒවා මිලදී ගන්නා ලදී. පෙබරවාරි 18 වැනිදා අප කණ්ඩායම Galle බලා ගියේ හඳුනාගත් පවුල්වලට මෙම පැකට් බෙදා දීමටයි. ගාල්ල ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානය සහ ප්‍රදේශ තුනේ ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාල මෙම වැඩසටහනට පහසුකම් සැලසීම සඳහා ප්‍රධාන කාර්යභාරයක් ඉටු කළේය. බෙදා හැරීමේ උත්සවයේදී ගාල්ල ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ සහකාර අධ්‍යක්ෂවරයා මෙන්ම Niyama සහ Thawalama ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාල නිලධාරීන් විසින් දේශන පවත්වන ලදී. විපතට පත් ප්‍රජාවන් සඳහා එවැනි මුලපිරීම්වල වැදගත්කම ඔවුහු අවධාරණය කළහ. වියළි සලාක අසුරන ලද අය තමන් වෙත ලබා දුන් සහයෝගයට හෘදයාංගම කෘතඥතාව පළ කළහ. ආපසු, Rtr. Hirumi Tharushika විසින් පරිත්‍යාග ව්‍යාපෘතියේ සාර්ථකත්වය සහතික කරන ලද ඔවුන්ගේ අගනා දායකත්වය වෙනුවෙන් සියලුම පළාත් පාලන ආයතනවලට සහ Deutsche Bank වෙතට ස්තුතිය පුද කළාය.
මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමට අප සමාජයේ බොහෝ සාමාජිකයින් තම කාලය හා ශ්‍රමය වැය කරමින් දායක විය. වියළි සලාක ඇසුරුම් කිරීමට සහය වූ ස්වේච්ඡා සේවකයන් සැලකිය යුතු ලෙස පැමිණ සිටීම සතුටට කරුණක් විය. අපේ President Rtr. Vishvi Wijetunge සහ Secretary Rtr. Melisha Gonaduwa ක්‍රියාශීලීව සම්බන්ධ වූ අතර ක්‍රියාවලිය පුරාවට මිල කළ නොහැකි සහයෝගයක් ලබා දුන්නේය. මෙම සාමූහික ප්‍රයත්නය නිසා අපට ව්‍යාපෘතිය දෝෂ රහිතව ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට හැකි වූ අතර, උපකාර අවශ්‍ය අයට එය ළඟා වන බව සහතික විය. අපගේ උත්සාහය ගාල්ලේ ගංවතුරෙන් විපතට පත් වූවන්ගේ ජීවිතවලට සෘජුවම බලපෑ බව දැන දැනම කණ්ඩායමක් ලෙස මෙවැනි ව්‍යාපෘතියක් සිදුකිරීමෙන් අපි ඉමහත් තෘප්තියක් ලැබුවේය. ආධාර ලබන පවුල්වල මුහුණුවල කෘතවේදීත්වය සහ සහනය දැකගැනීම ඇත්තෙන්ම ප්‍රතිලාභදායක විය. මෙම අත්දැකීම අවශ්‍යතා ඇති ප්‍රජාවන්ට සේවය කිරීම සඳහා අපගේ කැපවීම තව දුරටත් දිරිමත් කර ඇති අතර, අනාගතයේදී එවැනිම ව්‍යාපෘති ආරම්භ කිරීමේ අවස්ථාව අපි උනන්දුවෙන් අපේක්ෂා කරමු. අන් අයගේ ජීවිතවල ධනාත්මක වෙනසක් ඇති කිරීමට අපගේ අධිෂ්ඨානය ස්ථිරව පවතින අතර, අපගේ සේවයේ සහ දයානුකම්පාවේ ගමන දිගටම කරගෙන යාමට අපි බලාපොරොත්තු වෙමු.
