16th Installation Ceremony of Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts

The Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo,Faculty of Arts unfolded as a beautiful blend of tradition, gratitude and renewed purpose. The evening began at 7.00 PM with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, a soft glow symbolizing not only the start of a new Rotaract year but the illumination of new hopes, new ideas and new journeys waiting to begin. Distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Rtr. Mahesh Yogarajan and Special Guest Rts. Nazmi Mohommad, graced the event with their presence, marking the evening with both prestige and warmth.

With the House of Order conducted by Rtr. Binaramali Wikramasinghe, the ceremony embraced a tone of discipline and dignity. The welcome address by Project Chairs Rtr. Tharinsa Senavirathne and Rtr. Anya Senadhira carried genuine warmth, inviting everyone into a night that promised reflection of the past, celebration of those who have served and anticipation for those who are yet to serve. The Flag Salutation and the meaningful recitation of the Rotary Four-Way Test further grounded everyone in the core values that define Rotaract – integrity, fairness, goodwill and service above self.

As the ceremony progressed, the Secretary’s Report presented by Rtr. Barani brought the audience on a journey through the club’s achievements. She highlighted the year’s largest and most vibrant celebration, Baila Night, a colourful signature event that embodied fellowship and youthfulness. She also reflected on the creation of Spectra ’25, a brand-new talent show that showcased the range of skills and creativity within the university community. Each avenue was acknowledged with heartfelt appreciation, a reminder that in Rotaract, every effort big or small becomes a brick in the foundation of service.

One of the evening’s most heartfelt moments came when outgoing President Rtr. Vibhavee Sarathchandra took the stage one last time. She expressed her gratitude to her family, friends and fellow Rotaractors who stood beside her throughout the year. Her heartfelt words: “Rotaract was a journey; I will always cherish the memories”  echoed through the hall, leaving a gentle hush as everyone absorbed the sincerity of her experience. Her year of leadership was marked not only by events and projects but by the quiet strength and dedication she brought to her role. As she handed over the reins, it was evident that her journey in Rotaract does not simply conclude here as the flame she carried continues to burn, ready to light new paths of service.

Adding a touch of creativity and youthful spirit, a lighthearted video introduced the incoming president, sparking laughter and joy across the room. The moment gave way to the formal installation of Rtr. Mobeetha Muralimanohar as President for 2025–2026. Her speech carried a refreshing sincerity as she thanked her family and friends for their unwavering encouragement. With quiet confidence, she shared her vision for the year ahead, expressing her heartfelt goal: “My main objective is to expand the club to everyone.” Her words felt like an open door, a promise of inclusivity, growth and a future shaped by many voices.

As the ceremony drew to its close, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of continuity and renewal. It became clear that installation ceremonies are more than traditions, they are bridges between what has been and what is yet to come. They celebrate the leaders who have served, uplift the leaders who are yet to rise and remind every Rotaractor that the work of service never truly ends.

To the outgoing president and her committee, our heartfelt appreciation is extended. Their contributions, resilience and dedication in the past year have shaped the club in ways that will be remembered long beyond their term. May they continue to serve with the same spirit, carrying forward the Rotaract ideals wherever their paths lead. And to the incoming president and her board, warm congratulations we give. May the year ahead be rich with purpose, unity and opportunities to make a lasting impact while staying true to their legacy.

In the end, the ceremony stood as a powerful reminder that Rotaract is not merely an organization. It is a rhythm : a heartbeat of service, fellowship, and youth leadership that continues to echo through every project, every meeting and every generation of Rotaractors. We eagerly await the next chapter the Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts will write in its new journey of service.
