The 4th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of UCSC was held on 30th August 2025 at the Information and Learning Centre, University of Colombo. The event began at 3.30 PM with the participation of distinguished guests, Rotaractors, and well-wishers. The traditional oil lamp ceremony took place at 3.41 PM, marking the symbolic start of the proceedings.
The ceremony was officially called to order by Rtr. Imasha, followed by the flag salutation, the Four-Way Test, and the Rotaract invocation conducted by Rtr. Liseka Mendis.
Rtr. Thagshan Arusiwam, the immediate past secretary, presented the report for the year 2024/2025, highlighting the club’s completion of 28 projects and over 3,000 volunteer hours. These included impactful workshops, campaigns and community programs aimed at building essential skills making a lasting difference.
The outgoing president, Rtr. Radhiyah Hasan, delivered her speech reflecting on the term of service, the challenges faced, and the accomplishments achieved with the support of the team. Under the theme ‘Build, Reconnect and Inspire’ the club successfully completed numerous projects with also bearing achievements like hosting the Rotaract district conference along with other clubs and winning the fifth place in the Rotaract Champions League. She expressed gratitude to her team, members, friends, and family, while offering the incoming board with words of encouragement and advice.
Newly appointed President Rtr. Murshid Akram shared his vision to take the club to the next level through innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. He thanked family members, the members of the Rotaract club, and the distinguished guests, emphasizing that the continued support and involvement of all members would be key to the club’s success.

The District Rotaract Representative, Rtr. PP. Nazmi Mahamood, encouraged all members to actively participate in projects and highlighted the responsibility of the incoming president in uplifting the club. His words, “Opportunities are like trains. They can be delayed. But you have to be in the station at the right time” inspired the audience.
As part of the entertainment segment, a delightful group song was performed, adding color and joy to the event.
Chief Guest, Mr. Rohan Gomez, praised the efforts of the outgoing board and motivated the new board of directors with his inspiring words. He commended the achievements of the past year, reminding everyone that “Age does not limit impact” and highlighting the passion and leadership of Rtr. Murshid Akram.
The 4th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo School of Computing was a resounding success. It celebrated past achievements while paving the way for a promising future under the leadership of the new Executive Committee and Board.
