The 7 th installation ceremony of the Rotaract Club of APIIT was a never to be forgotten evening full of smiles, laughter, appreciation and hope. The ceremony was officially started at 6.45 p.m. with the oil lamp being lit, and this represents the new beginning of a new Rotaract year.
The house was called to order by the outgoing president Rtr. IPP Shagaan Thevarajah innovated the room was mirrored on a marvelous year passed by. This was the year that saw the team work and dedication reflected during the Secretary Report that boasted of more than 50 projects in 12 avenues, robust financial stability, serving the entire island, and international engagements
In his heartfelt speech, Rtr. IPP Shagaan Thevarajah gave gratitude to former presidents, his father and the whole team who have been with him all through the way. He was reminding everyone that each avenue and each member contributes to the success of the club, and wholeheartedly received the new leadership with confidence and pride.
The crowd was also greeted to fun and emotional videos before the new president appeared on the stage, full of memes, laughs, and even childhood stories told by the mother of the Incoming President, the moments that made the night memorable.
Incoming President Rtr. Gayathri Manoharan, was inspirational as she took the time to appreciate her parents and the incumbent president who have remained supportive to her at all times. Discussing the theme,Inspire Service, Empire Change, she told about her ideas of leadership that seem to be not about the titles, but about the actions and responsibility. She was boasting of the current and completed club projects such as projects that aimed at education, health, awareness and empowerment as well as introduction of the first skill based project of the club, Pinnacle Pentathlon project.
This was also supplemented with inspirational words by DRR Rtr. PP Nazmi Mahamood, Rtr. Thillani Subasinga, and the Chief Guest Rtr. PHF. Dillon Henderlin, who applauded the growth, togetherness and leadership spirit of the club.
The evening ended with emotional congratulations and gifts of gratitude, which was not only a shift of roles, but also the commencement of a new bright period. The Rotaract Club of APIIT has a solid background and a new fervent board, and it is time to venture into another fruitful year.
They have started a new adventure – and the future is even better than ever.
