My journey with the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance from 2023 to 2026 has been filled with valuable experiences, learning opportunities, and unforgettable memories. Serving in different leadership roles allowed me to grow both personally and professionally while building meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds.
As the Treasurer of the club at present, I am responsible for financial planning, budgeting, and maintaining accurate financial records for club projects and activities. This role has strengthened my sense of responsibility, teamwork and leadership while teaching me the importance of accountability and effective financial management.
In 2025, I served as the Finance Co-Director, where I initiated the “Wheels and Tees” project and actively contributed to fundraising activities. Through the dedication of our team, the club was nominated for Best Fundraising Activities of the Year. The project also achieved recognition as the Most Interactive Project of the Year – 1st Place and Most Outstanding Fundraising Initiative – 2nd Place. This experience taught me how collaboration, creativity and commitment can create a real impact within the community.
In 2024, I had the opportunity to serve as the Project Co-Chairperson for the flagship Club Service initiative “Hade Veena 2.0.” The project focused on inclusivity, fellowship, and member engagement and I was involved in planning, coordinating, and managing cross-functional teams to ensure its success. The initiative received the Gold Award for Most Outstanding Club Service Initiative (Inclusivity & Diversity) and the Silver Award for Most Outstanding Club Service Initiative (Fellowship – Internal) at the Rotaract District Assembly.
Beyond the awards and achievements, Rotaract has given me something even more valuable – lifelong friendships, strong connections with society and countless lessons that go beyond the classroom. Working with different individuals, engaging with communities and facing challenges together helped me improve my communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. I am truly grateful for this journey and proud to be part of a platform that inspires young people to serve, connect, and grow together.
