Rotaverse -Rtr. Saduni Wijemanna (Sergeant at Arms 2025-26)

Being a part of the Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance, has been a truly meaningful journey of growth, learning, and self discovery. My path within the club began as a general member, progressed to serving as the Director of Sports and Recreation, and eventually led me to position myself as the Sergeant at Arms for the year 2025 – 2026. Each stage of this journey has shaped my perspective and contributed to my personal and leadership development.

Along this journey, I have experienced moments that made me proud of myself and, at times, moments that were slightly embarrassing. However, I have come to understand that these are simply moments in time. What truly matters is how we learn from them and how we make the most out of every experience, even when things do not unfold as we initially expected.

Rotaract has also introduced me to people from diverse backgrounds, each with unique personalities and perspectives. Interacting with such individuals has allowed me to reflect on myself encouraging me to avoid negative traits while embracing and developing the positive qualities I observe in others. This process has played an important role in shaping who I am becoming.

Serving as the Sergeant at Arms has given me the responsibility of maintaining discipline and ensuring that our meetings and events remain organized, structured, and productive. At the same time, it has reminded me that Rotaract is fundamentally a platform for voluntary service. Positions are temporary, incidents pass with time, and no individual holds permanent power or superiority over another. What truly defines this journey is the shared spirit of service, teamwork, and mutual respect that binds us together.

I am deeply grateful for the friendships, challenges, and experiences that Rotaract has given me. These moments have not only strengthened my commitment to service but have also shaped me into a more thoughtful and responsible individual.
