Welcome again to the Center Stage Interview Series for 2025 brought to you by the Rotaract movement. It is my pleasure to introduce our guest speaker, , District Rotaract Representative, Rtr. PP Nazmi Mahamood who is a resilient and genuine leader whose journey speaks volumes in conversation with host Thilakshila Dayananda.
There were funny and valuable sessions with sharing experiences. Here we are able to share few of them.

- How would you describe yourself in three words?
Nazmi is a patient man, which he believes makes things easier both in his personal life and professional career. He says that he is a “lazy” person, but that pushes him towards thinking of innovative ways to do things so that the job can be done faster and more productively.
He is a man who loves anime and Naruto but alexperiences. so disciplined and creative.
- How did your Rotaract experience start?
Nazmi’s experience started as an Interactor and went on to culminate in his joining the Rotaract club at Colombo Fort. In sharing his thoughts about how mentorship in Rotaract helps develop leaders who leave a positive
imprint, Nazmi talks about the significant influence of his seniors on him.
- Which projects do you feel passionate about?
There are three main projects Nazmi can speak about positively:
Hattrick – A long-running cricket tournament that unites communities.
Orange Friends – An initiative that allows the street cleaning community to be heard.
Unplug – but isAn open mic program inspired by a discussion in a cafe.
Final Thoughts
The journey of Nasmi Mahmod is a great example of how true leadership comes from a specific mindset, interpersonal connections, and deliberate actions rather than formal titles.
