In the final episode of the Center Stage 2025 Edition, we are delighted to feature an exceptional leader in the Rotaract movement — Rtr. IPP Hillary Perera, who currently serves as the Joint Director of Club Service on the Rotaract District Steering Committee. In a compelling conversation with Rtr. Upeksha Dissanayake, Rtr. Hillary shares her inspiring journey, the challenges she has overcome, and the values that shape her leadership.

1.What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned through Rotaract?
One key lesson I’ve learned is personal growth. Rotaract has helped me develop my social and public speaking skills. More importantly, it has taught me about the wide range of personalities you meet in the world and how to connect with different people.
2. What qualities do you think are important for a Rotaractor?
I believe being open-minded is essential. As Rotaractors, we work with people from all walks of life, each with unique personalities and backgrounds. It’s important to understand and appreciate where others come from.
3. Which role did you enjoy the most in Rotaract — your presidency or serving as a District Avenue Director?
Definitely being a District Avenue Director. It’s largely thanks to my incredible team — my co-directors within the avenue and across the district. Their support made my journey smoother and more enjoyable. Honestly, I preferred it over my time as president.
