Joining us for a vibrant discussion with Rtr. Hana Abdeen is none other than the Rotaract District Secretary, Rtr. PP Salman Mohamed. 1.What inspired you to become a Rotaractor ?
I joined Rotaract even before I was eligible to join Rotaract because I was an interactor in my school and I was the interact president in that particular club. So during my presidency, I had the chance to work with many Rotaractors and also with few Rotaract project. When we were in Interact, our involvement was always guided by school rules, with many barriers and restrictions in place. It often felt limiting. However, when I observed Rotaract, I noticed a significant difference, there was much more freedom. People seemed free to pursue their ideas and carry out projects without the same constraints. That sense of independence and creativity really inspired me, and it was a key reason why I decided to join Rotaract at that time.
2. What is your favourite Rotaract memory from your time in Rotaract ?
For Rotaract memory. I think my first project I chaired, Hattrick. I think that’s my favourite memory.
3. How does Rotaract contribute to your personal growth?
Currently, I’m working a full-time job, which I’ve been in for about seven years, a position I actually secured through a contact I made in Rotaract. Alongside that, I also run a side business. I don’t even have a proper social media page or a visiting card for it. Despite that, I earn almost as much from my business as I do from my job. What’s remarkable is that about 99% of my clients and connections for the business come through the networks I’ve built in Rotaract and Rotary. This really highlights the value of the connections and opportunities that Rotaract can offer.
