1. What made you join Rotaract?

It’s the influence of my friends and the love for Community Service. Initially I perceived Rotaract as a Community Service platform. After joining I came to the realization that Community Service was just the tip of the ice burg. There is a whole lot more that this organization offered which is what inspired me to continue.

2. How has Rotaract influenced you to be who you are today?

I believe Rotaract has influenced me to bring out the best in me. It has helped me grow as a person and also to develop, support and inspire people around me.

3. What was the most heart-warming project for you and what was the most fun-filled project in your journey that you’d like to relive?

It has to be “Live a little, Love a little”. It took place in the Haven and Sunshine home where we spent the day with a very special group of women. It made me realize how cruel the world can be, and also how a simple act of kindness can impact a person’s life.

“Detour 1.0” was one of my all time favorites. It was a mini Triathlon organized for the first time by a Rotaract club. From the start until the day of the project it was such a fun and exciting journey that I wouldn’t want to trade with anything else.

4. What are the challenges you encountered when handling the team?

I always believed that the Pros of handing a team outweigh the Cons. Yes, there are difficulties when handing people from different backgrounds and attitudes but that’s what makes the journey more interesting. RACUOCFMF is a big happy family which makes wonders happen. Even though we don’t realize it, we are always living by our slogan “ Teamwork makes the dream work”

5. What’s your favourite project organized by a fellow club?

Conquer Colombo.  I’ve been part of the project organized by RAC Achievers Lanka Business School for 2 consecutive years now and quite excited for what’s in store for the future.

6. What advice would you give to someone who has just joined Rotaract?

When a popular personality speaks, it always inspires us, whether its a car racer, a cricket player, a dancer or a big businessmen. I always wonder – how did they become so inspirational? . They had to start somewhere.

They were once just like you and me. They sat on the sidelines and watched as others inspired them. Then one day, they got up and had the courage to do what they loved. The secret to making a leap from viewer to doer isn’t a difficult one. It just takes enough courage to step up for one day. I feel like Rotaract helps you to find that passion.  My advice would be , you’re on the right track. The inspiration you’re searching for is right there. It can come through as a project, a fellow Rotaractor or even a simple act of kindness.

7. How has Rotaract helped you to do well in your life as an entrepreneur and in your corporate life?

When you look at Rotaract as a whole, you’ll realize that it is much more than just doing projects. It involves respect, discipline, self confidence, courage and a lot more. As an entrepreneur I feel like what Rotaract silently taught me, made a huge difference. One more aspect that helps me to climb the corporate ladder is the friends and contacts I’ve made through this organization.

8. Which moment in your Journey through Rotaract are you most proud about?

It should be when I was appointed as the President of FMF. Even though our club is a small part of a university, we were always quite popular. The responsibility of leading a club of that caliber was a big deal for me and I am still proud to have been given that responsibility.

9. What do you feel about the position of our club today?

Under the leadership of Shehani and Piyumi I believe the club reached great heights. I always knew they were capable of amazing things and they proved me right. From the start of the year till the very end they have shown a constant improvement and I’m so proud of what the club has achieved.

Now under the leadership of Aamina and Kulani, I’m sure the future holds nothing but even greater things.
