Milad-un-Nabi (Holy Prophet’s Birthday) – 26th August

The birth of Prophet Muhammad was not merely the arrival of a child; it marked the dawn of a new era for humanity. Milad-un-Nabi, meaning the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, is remembered by Muslims around the world as an opportunity to reflect upon the extraordinary life and message of the final Messenger of Allah.

Prophet Muhammad was born in Makkah. He belonged to the respected Quraysh tribe and the noble family of Banu Hashim.

His father Abdullah passed away before his birth and his mother Aminah cared for him during his early years. Although he experienced hardship and loss from a young age, Allah prepared him for a mission that would transform the world.

The Qur’an describes Prophet Muhammad  as a mercy to the worlds:

“And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.”
                                                                                                                                   Qur’an 21:107

His mercy was not limited to one group of people. He showed kindness to children, respect toward elders, compassion toward the poor, fairness toward opponents, and care for animals and the environment.

He taught that true strength was not simply the ability to defeat others, but the ability to control anger and forgive.

He encouraged people to feed the hungry, care for orphans, help their neighbours, honour parents, maintain family ties and treat others with dignity.

When the Prophet was insulted, he responded with patience. When he gained power, he chose forgiveness. When he had little, he remained generous. When people trusted him, he remained honest. When he faced hardship, he remained patient and placed his trust in Allah.

These qualities remain relevant today…

In a world where anger spreads quickly, we need his patience.

In a world filled with division, we need his message of brotherhood.

In a world where people often judge others by wealth and status, we need his teaching about human dignity.

And in a world where kindness can sometimes be forgotten, we need to revive his mercy.

Technology has changed. Cities have changed. The way people communicate has changed. But human beings still experience love, anger, sadness, greed, kindness, jealousy, hope, and fear.

That is why the example of the Prophet continues to matter.

His life teaches us how to behave when we are happy and how to remain patient when we are tested. It teaches us how to treat friends, family, strangers, and even those who disagree with us.

Let the life of the Prophet remind us that even the smallest act of mercy, honesty, patience, or generosity can become a source of goodness.

His greatest legacy is not a building, a monument, or a worldly possession. It is a message that continues to live in the hearts and actions of those who follow him.

Milad-un-Nabi is not only about remembering when the Prophet was born. It is about remembering why he was sent and allowing his beautiful example to illuminate our lives.
