what a proud day the University of Colombo Annual General Convocation 2024 was to our whole community. One name out of the numerous superior graduates stood out by far, and that was of Theeksha Gunasinghe who received the most coveted Student of the Year Award.
This is not merely a certificate but an acknowledgment of the spirit of a well rounded person.one who excels in academics, leadership, sports and within the cultural realm, and is also a character and value role model. And this year Theeksha has lived up to that spirit in all ways.
Theeksha is a motivational figure in his life since the onset of his university life. He leaves the Faculty of Management and Finance with First Class Honours, and having an impressive record of leadership and service. Being the President of the Amalgamated Club of the University of Colombo, the captain of the University Rugby Team and an Executive Committee member of the Rotaract Club of University of colombo Faculty of Management and Finance, he has shown that nothing can really make someone succeed as much as passion, hard work, and working as a team.
On his trip, Theeksha told FOS media:
“ The trip has been magical. I view this award as a group effort.it takes so many people in order to make this award possible and they were all on my side. I have been the lucky one to get it. Thanks and blessings on the way, I am so grateful and humbled by the journey.”
To his juniors Theeksha left a wise and encouraging message
“Do what you love and be around people that actually root with you. Do what you love and give it 100%. You do not need to pursue awards, titles but rather the result and the intention you perform. Take the best you can get out of your stay here, make the trip worthwhile, and see what you can make of it.”
As we rejoice over his rich earned award, Theeksha Gunasinghe reminds us of how life in the university does not end at grades or titles, but at growth, friendships, memories, and giving of your best in whatever you do.
