The most anticipated career fair of the year, What next ? Career expo- 2023 was an opportunity which was exclusively open for the undergraduates of the Faculty of Management and Finance Universities of Colombo to unlock their future and step into a world of opportunities. It was a unique chance where the undergraduates got the opportunity to explore leading enterprises and grab the best that suits them. Really, who will come in and offer a spectrum of job vacancies?

Career Expo- 2023 යනු කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්යාල කළමනාකරණ සහ මුල්ය පීඨයේ උපාධි අපේක්ෂකයින්ට ඔවුන්ගේ අනාගතය විවෘත කර ගැනීමටත්, අවස්ථා සහිත ලෝකයකට පිය නැගීමටත් විවෘත වූ අවස්ථාවක් විය. එය ප්රමුඛ පෙළේ ව්යවසායන් ගවේෂණය කිරීමට සහ ඔවුන්ට ගැලපෙන හොඳම දේ ලබා ගැනීමට උපාධි අපේක්ෂකයින්ට අවස්ථාව ලැබුණු සුවිශේෂී අවස්ථාවක් විය. ඇත්ත වශයෙන්ම, පැමිණ රැකියා පුරප්පාඩු වර්ණාවලියක් ලබා දෙන්නේ කවුද?

Career expo- 2023 என்பது கொழும்பில் உள்ள முகாமைத்துவ மற்றும் நிதி பல்கலைக்கழகங்களின் இளங்கலை பட்டதாரிகளுக்கு பிரத்தியேகமாக திறக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு வாய்ப்பாகும். இது அவர்களின் எதிர்காலத்தை திறக்க மற்றும் வாய்ப்புகளின் உலகில் அடியெடுத்து வைக்கும். இளங்கலை பட்டதாரிகள் முன்னணி நிறுவனங்களை ஆராய்வதற்கும் சிறந்த வாய்ப்புகளைப் பெறுவதற்கும் இது ஒரு தனித்துவமான வாய்ப்பாக இருந்தது.
In order to make this job fair a reality, RACUOCFMF provided the bridge between more than 20 companies and 400+ fourth-year undergraduates of the faculty. We systematically examined the skills that are now in demand and how they relate to students and accordingly invited the industry leaders who will prove our undergraduates with the chance to meet almost every well-known industry professional in one location. We also thoughtfully planned the entire event in accordance with the demands of the current job market.
Organizing a career fair is no small feat; it entails a multitude of responsibilities. As a committee member at the event, one aspect that stood out to me was the dedication of the co-chairs. They were constantly on the move, ensuring that all tasks were completed efficiently. Meanwhile, the chairs and the team members took it upon themselves to instill confidence in the students, providing them with valuable insights into participating organizations and streamlining the job search process by highlighting suitable opportunities.
The event started off at 10.45 am with the lighting of the oil lamp where Rtr. Thinali, our host for the day, invited the dignitaries. The Deputy Registrar of the Faculty Mrs. Manoji, the Assistant Registrar of the faculty Mrs. Saranjala, the Coordinator of the career guidance unit Prof. Fazeela, the President of the club Rtr. Gajaba, Secretary, Rtr. Samindi, Vice president Rtr. Sandali, Chairs Rtr. Pasindu and Rtr. Nethmi. Avenue director Rtr. Theeksha, and a representative from each company in attendance lit the traditional oil lamp to kick off the event.
Numerous business titans joined together with us to offer career chances to Management students at our University, including ‘MAS Holdings’ our silver sponsor, ‘Rizing’ our bronze sponsor, Our talent partner ‘Unilever’, John Keels, HNB Assurance, Nations Trust Bank, Brandix, Union bank, Hemas, Sampath bank, Seylan bank, NDB capital, Nestle, Laughs, Hayleys, Standard Chartered, Capital Alliance and LSEG. Meanwhile, the faculty premises were captivated by the driving companies; it would be a botch to not say the refreshment trucks picked up most of the attraction. The Juice bar truck had the most excellent black current drink ever and they had numerous best compliments as well. There were many more refreshments like Maggie, hotdogs, and beverages and the main highlight was the puredale “kiri the” given free to all attendees by our beverage partner puredale.
When the interviewers began their roles, the students were eagerly locked in within the walk-in interviews. The queues were so long that LSEG, Rizing, Brandix, and Laughs never had time for their lunch break even.
As we reminisce about the preparations for the career fair, we are reminded of the day before the event when we tirelessly cleaned and organized all the halls. It was an arduous task, but through collaborative efforts, the committee managed to accomplish it smoothly. Some stalls were set up outdoors, while others were situated inside the lecture halls. The co-chairs played a pivotal role in motivating us by promising an after-party if we completed each task on time. With this incentive in mind, the entire committee, along with non-committee volunteers, dedicated themselves to making the event a resounding success. Their hard work and commitment truly paid off.
At the end of the program, company representatives offered their thanking messages and comments to the event organizers. The organizing team collected company feedback to know how the interviews went and any scope improvement for next time. And that concluded the project, “WHAT NEXT?! Career expo-2023” in our own unique style as proud Rotaractors. Everyone who made a difference to make this project a victory deserves ardent praise and tremendous regard.
Yet again!
