As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the Mandawa premises of the Faculty of Management and Finance, the atmosphere began to hum with anticipation. On the evening of May 2nd, 2025, the much-awaited musical spectacle Hade Veena 3.0 unfolded, bringing together the talents and passions of students in a soul-stirring celebration of music and unity. Led by four dynamic chairpersons Upeksha, Eshan, Liviru, Shenal and supported by a dedicated board of directors and 25 member organizing committee, Hade Veena 3.0 blossomed into a project rooted in collaboration, creativity, and purpose. Divided into four key teams Public Relations, Logistics, Finance, and Music, the members worked tirelessly for months, each group playing a crucial role in bringing the vision to life.
Originally scheduled for April 25th, the event was rescheduled to May 2nd due to unforeseen challenges in coordinating music practices, especially around the Sinhala and Tamil New Year period. This thoughtful adjustment gave performers the necessary time to rehearse and perfect their acts. Rehearsals took place both within the university premises and, during the final four days, at Cult Studio, where all vocalists and band members committed themselves wholeheartedly, attending sessions daily. The official journey began as early as January 21st, 2025, with the appointment of chairpersons. Sponsorship confirmation was secured by May 1st, and tickets, launched on April 4th, saw an impressive sale of 200. Funds were raised through a blend of sponsorships, donations, and ticket sales, promoted via the official Hade Veena Instagram page and supported by student representatives who ensured content reached every batch group. The community-driven promotional strategy significantly amplified outreach and engagement.
The evening’s performances were nothing short of magical. From mesmerizing vocal pieces to powerful instrumental sets, every act reflected the dedication and talent of the university’s young musicians. Elegance met rhythm as classical dance performances led by members of the university’s dance circle and club added a graceful visual layer to the musical experience. The event’s only hired equipment, a professional drum kit, elevated the musical arrangements and ensured quality sound for the outdoor setting. Feedback from past directors and attendees praised Hade Veena 3.0 as one of the most memorable editions yet, applauding both the professionalism of the event and the warmth of its atmosphere. The synergy between performers, organizers, and the audience created an experience that transcended entertainment and it became a celebration of youth, passion, and shared purpose.
