29th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte

The
29
th Installation ceremony of President Rtr.
Vijayadas Devadas and his Board of Directors for the year 2015/16 was on the 11
th of July 2015 at Ministry of Tourism & Sports-Auditorium,
Colombo 07. On behalf of our Club Rtr. Dinath, Gehanya and Ruvini attended the
installation of RCW.

The
Event started with the arrival of chief guests and the installation was called
to order by the outgoing President Rtr. Gajenthran Thivakaran. As per the agenda,
tokens of appreciation were presented to the outgoing board and the incoming President
was introduced.  After the installation
as President Rtr. Vijayadas addressed the gathering. He mentioned that, he is
confident that his board and other members of Rotaract club of Wellawatte will
strengthen their vision and make Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka &
Maldives proud. He further mentioned that, this year is a special year for the
Rotaract club of Wellawatte as their own Rtr. DRR. PHF. Sathiyendra will be leading
the R.I. District 3220 and will also be bringing down the biggest South Asian
Rotaract Conference,
Rotasia 2016
to Sri Lanka.

After
the incoming President’s speech, RCW introduced the Guest of Honor Rtn. PP
Suranjith Swaris, who is the Assistant District governor of RI District 3220
Sri Lanka & Maldives. In his speech he acknowledged that the theme for
Rotary International for the year 2015/16 would be
Be
a gift to the world
.  He
further mentioned about the importance of everyone
s
contribution towards making the world politically powerful, socially stable,
economically efficient and spiritually strong.

One
of the highlights of the event was the Selfie competition that was conducted by
RCW. The invitees were asked to post a selfie to the RCW Facebook page and the
selfie with the most likes was adjudged winner.

The
Chief Guest for the day was Rtn. Niwantha Ekanayake who is the President of
Rotary club of Mt. Lavinia RI District 3220. In his speech he pointed out that
the income gap of the country is increasing and this is leading to more
important tasks for everyone, to increase the bonds and sense of solidarity by
avoiding class division and social conflicts. He further mentioned the
importance of Volunteering organizations such as the Rotary club in giving
their maximum effort in making this possible.

There
after the floor was open for felicitation and on behalf of UOC FMF our Director
of Professional Development, Rtr. Dinath Fedrico congratulate the outgoing President
and also wished the best for the incoming President and his board.  The installation ceremony concluded with the
vote of thanks by the secretary followed by the national anthem.

UOC
FMF took pleasure in participating in the installation ceremony of RCW and UOC
FMF wishes all the best for the incoming board for a successful year of 2015/16.
