The Rotaract Club of University of Colombo School of Computing celebrated its third installation ceremony at the New Arts Theatre on September 8, 2024, commemorating a significant achievement in the club’s history of service and camaraderie. Promptly at 3:00 PM, members, visitors, and dignitaries convened for an energizing and unforgettable event.
The lighting of the customary oil lamp at the commencement of the ritual marked the beginning of a new chapter for the incoming board. Prominent club members, both current and former officials, took part in this historic occasion. The highlight of the evening was the newly elected president, Rtr. Radiyah Hassan, along with her board of officials. A thorough report detailing the club’s actions for the previous year was given by the departing secretary. It featured a range of activities, seminars, and projects that the club carried out for the good of the student body and the larger community. Rtr. Adeepa Bandara, the departing president, gave her thoughts on the previous year’s events. They stressed in their address the value of cooperation and tenacity in accomplishing the club’s objectives. “As I step down today, I leave with a heart full of gratitude and memories of the incredible projects we accomplished together,” they noted. The recently chosen president, Rtr. Radiyah Hassan, gave a speech outlining her goals for the following year. She underlined the value of creativity, diversity, and teamwork in advancing the club. “By re-establishing positive connections and motivating constructive transformation, we can jointly construct a more promising future,” she fervently declared. PP Shanel Mendis wished the newly formed board well and offered her support. “Grab practical knowledge alongside academic achievements,” she advised them, emphasizing the significance of striking a balance for both professional and personal growth.
There were some humorous moments during the event. An unexpected participatory exercise made everyone happy and added a happy element to the otherwise serious occasion. Rtn. Samiru Muthugama, the event’s principal guest, emphasized the importance of the Rotaract and Rotary organizations, stressing that “Rotary is about social and fellowship values.” He urged the group members to exhibit passion, humility, and consideration for others. “The little things you do will add up to big changes in society,” he said in closing. Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance takes immense pleasure in conveying their heartiest wishes to the incoming president Rtr. Radiyah Hassan and his board of directors to do great things in the future and to achieve even greater milestones.
