“Rotaract” is a global movement of young leaders (aged 18-30) who develop innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges, thereby serving others while advancing peace. It originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Today, this global movement entails a series of opportunities for the youth to develop their professional and leadership skills, to grow their network, as well as to share their experiences. The strength of the movement is in its diverse membership, as it includes young professionals, entrepreneurs and students from various fields, who are brought together by the call for fellowship and service. “Rotaract” stands for “Rotary in Action” and as the youth arm of “Rotary International”, Rotary Club sponsors offer guidance and support while working side by side with Rotaract Clubs as true “People of Action”. Rotaract members decide how to plan, organize and run their clubs and manage their own funds especially with regard to service projects. From big cities to rural villages, Rotaract continues to introduce positive and sustainable change to communities like yours and ours, under Rotary’s six areas of focus and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
