“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone”
-Ronald Reagan-

Together makes the worthy attempts even stronger and that’s a statement none could deny. Such partnerships namely Project Saviour, Project Blind Walk, and Project CanCon that made a difference were given recognition at the Rotaract District Training Assembly under the category of the ‘Most Outstanding Initiative With A Rotary Club’ and let us dive a bit to know what they’ve done!

Not only through this, but also from posting posters on social media to posting bills on bulletin boards, distributing banners near hospital locations, spreading via word of mouth the team spirit of these Rotaract and Rotary Clubs was well exhibited which proves that they were truly deserving of what they were awarded as  the number of lives saved through this is truly immense.

Silver – Blink Walk – Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance, Rotaract Club of Colombo Midtown, Rotaract Club of Achievers Lanka Business School, and Rotaract Club of Australian College of Business and Technology

Trying to bring light into the world of darkness is such an incredible act of greatness and Blind Walk 2021 was such an initiative taken by the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance along with Rotaract Club of Colombo Midtown, Rotaract Club of Achievers Lanka Business School, Rotaract Club of Australian College of Business and Technology that won them the Silver Award under this category. Though this project was hindered with the Covid-19 pandemic, it just changed forms and not the purpose. The walk was replaced with Blind Challenge, A guest session, and an Open Mic Night which were held through virtual platforms. Not only were they able to raise awareness about vision impairment, but also set out the stage to collect funds in order to help out such souls who live in the dark. Cheers in being the light of many and all the very best in continuing of being so!

This is all about Project CanCon initiated by the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Rotaract Club of Imperial College of Business Studies, Rotaract Club of Singer Sri Lanka along with the Rotary Family of Colombo North which won the Bronze Award under this category. Throughout these phases cancer patients were supported in numerous ways such as clinics, donations, and also emotional assistance while awareness regarding cancer prevention and treatment available was also raised among the community.
That feeling of making another feel better cannot be put into words and there is no doubt that the team of CanCon experienced the true essence of it by making not one, but a number of lives better which made them well deserving of what they were awarded.
