In 2023, I joined the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance as a prospect member, curious and excited to explore university life. I thought it would be about trips, friends, and fun, but I soon discovered that Rotaract was much more, a journey of service, leadership, and personal growth.
My first project, Mission Compassion, a Christmas celebration with orphanage children, taught me the value of responsibility and careful planning. Managing limited funds, coordinating activities, and ensuring every child felt included opened my eyes to the real meaning of impact. Soon after, I co-led Project Thelithuda, a large-scale art competition with Interact Clubs. Facing unexpected challenges and tight deadlines tested my resilience and teamwork. Overcoming these obstacles and receiving recognition at the 33rd Rotaract District Assembly became a moment I will never forget.
In RI Year 2024-25, I served as Co-Director of the Digital Communications Avenue, mentoring both senior and junior teams. Every flyer, video, and creative output became a reflection of collaboration, strategy, and growth. Designing the Annual Report during my exams pushed my limits, but winning the Gold Award for Best Annual Report at the 34th RDA proved that hard work and focus pay off.
Today, as President, I lead over 50 projects, guide diverse teams, and overcome challenges caused by floods and the fuel crisis. Securing 5th place at the Rotaract Club League showed me that limitations can become strengths with strategy, vision, and determination.
As I move toward the role of Immediate Past President, I carry forward the lessons, friendships, and values that RACUOCFMF has given me. This club has been my mentor, my family, and my inspiration. My goal remains clear: to empower future leaders, create meaningful impact, and ensure our legacy of excellence continues.
Always, I believe teamwork makes the dream work, and what we have achieved proves it.
