On a memorable evening of leadership and service, the Rotaract Club of Colombo Port City conducted its 2nd Installation Ceremony at the Royal College Union Skills Centre. This prestigious event was graced with a warm atmosphere as members and guests gathered to witness the transition of leadership within the club. The ceremony, which took place from 6:20 PM onwards and lasted until 8:20 PM, was marked by several notable speeches and moments that highlighted the club’s commitment to community service, leadership, and fellowship. Rtr. Kavindya Prabhashi, Rtr. Sanduni Wijesooriya, Rtr. Naduni Anjana, Rtr. Linara Rajapaksa and Rtr. Thushini Kaushani joined this ceremony representing the FMFers at this memorable moment.
The ceremony began with the House being called to order by Sergeant at Arms, Rtr. Mohammad Humaiz Rumzi, who played an essential role in maintaining the decorum of the event. The outgoing Secretary, Rtr. Methmie Bandara, and Joint Secretary Rtr. Shanuki Denipitiya presented the Secretary’s report. This report summarized the club’s activities and accomplishments throughout the previous year, providing an overview of the club’s service projects and initiatives.Rtr. Dulana Nirovin, the Outgoing President of the Rotaract Club of Colombo Port City, shared insights into the club’s journey. Rtr. Nirovin admitted that he never aspired to become the President initially but was inspired by Rtr. Kasun Sigera’s speech during the club’s chartering process. He also recognized the Charter Secretary of the Rotaract Club of NIBM, who played a significant role in the club’s formation. Rtr. Nirovin spoke about the challenges they had faced and how they aimed to regularize the club and ensure its sustainability. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between service and leadership, reiterating the club’s commitment to making a positive impact on the community.Rtr. Randima Fernando was then officially assumed duties as the President, with outgoing President Rtr. Dulana Nirovin Collaring her. The newly appointed President, Rtr. Randima Fernando expressed gratitude to the outgoing board for their hard work and dedication. She emphasized the importance of unity, highlighting that despite the diverse personalities and ideas within the club, they were all on the same path to improve the community. Rtr. Randima elaborated on the core principles of Rotary – service, leadership, and fellowship. She encouraged members to be better individuals and contribute positively to society. Her speech underscored the significance of sharing knowledge, celebrating achievements, and enjoying each other’s company. She stressed that connecting hearts could create a lasting impact.
