General
Red-vented Bulbul is, outgoing bird distinguished by a commanding reddish patch below the root of the tail. It is aggressive and chases off other bird species and may also help to spread the seeds of other invasive species. It is an agricultural pest, destroying fruit, flowers, beans, tomatoes, and peas.
Distribution and habitat
It is found naturally from Pakistan to southwest China and has been introduced to many Pacific Islands.
Appearance
Red-vented Bulbul is about 8.25 inches in length and weighs between 26 and 45 grams. In general, it is dark, crested with a white abdomen and rump, and crimson under the tail coverts. The juvenile bird is like the mature except there’s some brownish sharpening on the feathers. The Red-vented Bulbul is husky than the Red-whiskered Bulbul. The masculine and feminine are alike in the figure, although the male tends to be marginally larger.
Diet
Red-vented Bulbul consumes fruits (e.g., bananas, lychees, and papaya), berries, insects, flower nectar, seeds, and buds. Its primary food is berries and fruit. It is known also to eat plant buds and flowers, but it will also eat insects and small lizards.
