Finally stepping away from the usual virtual meetings, the Sports Avenue of RACUOCFMF was able to execute the 1st phase of the project ‘Meet Up’, a thrilling badminton tournament which was held on the 20th of October, 2021 at the MBA indoor stadium. The project ‘Meet Up’ is anticipated to be continued throughout the Rotaract year in the form of a series of monthly sporting events which intends to strengthen the friendships within RACUOCFMF and thereby to enhance the bonding among the club members.
අවසානයේ දී අතථ්ය හමුවීම්වලින් ඈත්ව, RACUOCFMF හි Sports Avenue විසින් ‘Meet Up’ ව්යාපෘතියේ ප්රථම අදියරය දියත් කිරීමට හැකි වූ අතර එය 2021 ඔක්තෝම්බර් මස 20 වන දින MBA ගෘහස්ථ ක්රීඩාංගණයේ දී පැවැත්වුණු විනෝදජනක බැට්මින්ටන් තරගාවලියකි. ‘Meet Up’ ව්යාපෘතිය RACUOCFMF තුළ මිත්රත්වය ශක්තිමත් කරමින් එතුළින් සාමාජිකයන් අතර ඇති බැඳීම් වැඩි දියුණු කිරීමේ අදහසින් රොටරැක්ට් වර්ෂය පුරාවටම මාසික ක්රීඩා ඉසව් ලෙසින් පැවැත්වෙනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.
இறுதியாக நிகழ்நிலை சந்திப்புக்களிலிருந்து விலகி, RACUOCFMF இன் விளையாட்டுப் பிரிவால் ஒழுங்குச் செய்யப்பட்ட ‘மீட் அப்’ திட்டத்தின் 1வது கட்டமான பரபரப்பான பேட்மிண்டன் போட்டியானது 2021 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஐப்பசி 20 ஆம் திகதி MBA உள்விளையாட்டு அரங்கில் நடைப்பெற்றது. RACUOCFMF உறுப்பினர்களிடையே நட்பை வலுப்படுத்தவும், பிணைப்பை மேம்படுத்தவும் ‘மீட் அப்’ செயற்றிட்டம் மாதாந்தம், விளையாட்டு நிகழ்வுகளின் வடிவத்தில் ரோட்ராக்ட் ஆண்டு முழுவதும் தொடரும் என்று எதிர்ப்பார்க்கப்படுகின்றது.
The Inter-Avenue Badminton Tournament being the try-out phase of the project ‘Meet Up’, the participation was limited to 30 participants representing the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Blog team and the Digital Communication team. Well-adhering to the prevailing health and safety guidelines, the tournament was excellently arranged for 16 pairs of players. The evening was indeed filled with joyous laughs, supportive cheers and the ecstatic feeling of being back together in person, the feeling that all the members have been missing since the day that everything went virtual.
The entire tournament consisted of friendly matches which gave the opportunity to our RACUOCFMF members to showcase their unique sports competencies including dodging, perplexed aiming, random racket techniques and many more mystifying skills. All jokes aside, not everyone was bewildered newbies to the game. The team ‘Editors’, team ‘Sports Directors’, team ‘Digital Communication Directors’ and the team ‘Membership Development Directors’ skillfully made their way through to the semi-finals of the tournament, which was then led to a quality final match between the team ‘Membership Development Directors’ and the team ‘Digital Communication Directors’.
After a fierce yet a well-played match, Rtr. Senara and Rtr. Vageesha, i.e., the team ‘Membership Development Directors’ secured the championship of the tournament.
It is worth mentioning that this well-deserved, fun-filled experience was created all thanks to the efforts of the Sports Avenue of RACUOCFMF that took up the challenge of hosting the project ‘Meet Up’ while ensuring the safety of all related parties. The 1st phase of ‘Meet Up’ came to a closure with the perfect ending where at the end of the day, a celebratory cake was cut to signify the 12th Charter Day of RACUOCFMF.
