The most anticipated food festival and open mic night, Boomtown 2022, was successfully held on the 17th of September 2022 at the Henry Pedris Grounds Colombo 05 beginning at 12 noon. It was a glamorous night filled with dynamic performances, amazing lyrical compositions and attracting beats.
This event was organized by the Finance Avenue of our club together with the Rotaract Club of Colombo Heritage and Rotaract Club of Alumni of the University of Moratuwa. The funds raised through this project will be donated to the Maharagama Apeksha hospital in order to help the patients with important medical supplies and treatments. The main objective of our project is to eliminate the threat that cancer patients face from the financial instability resulting from the economic crisis in our country.
ගොඩක් බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් හිටපු food festival සහ open mike night, ‘Boomtown 2022’ 2022 සැප්තැම්බර් 17 වන දින කොළඹ 05 හෙන්රි පේද්රිස් පිටියේදී මධ්යහ්න 12 ට ආරම්භ වී සාර්ථකව පැවැත්විණි. එය රංගනයන්, විස්මිත ගීත රචනා සහ ආකර්ශනීය තාලවලින් පිරුණු ආකර්ෂණීය රාත්රියක් විය.
Colombo Heritage රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය සහ මොරටුව විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ ආදි ශිෂ්යයන්ගේ රොටරැක්ට් සමාජය අප සමාජයේ Finance Avenue සමග එක්ව මෙම උත්සවය සංවිධානය කරන ලදී. මෙම ව්යාපෘතිය හරහා ලබාගන්නා මුදල් මහරගම අපේක්ෂා රෝහලට පරිත්යාග කරනුයේ රෝගීන්ට වැදගත් වෛද්ය සැපයුම් සහ ප්රතිකාර ලබාදීම සඳහා ය. අපගේ ව්යාපෘතියේ ප්රධාන අරමුණ වන්නේ අපේ රටේ පවතින ආර්ථික අර්බුදයේ ප්රතිඵලයක් ලෙස පවතින මූල්ය අස්ථාවරභාවයෙන් පිළිකා රෝගීන් මුහුණ දෙන තර්ජනය තුරන් කිරීමයි.
அனைவராலும் மிகவும் எதிர்பார்க்கப்பட்ட உணவுத் திருவிழா மற்றும் ஓபன் மைக் இரவாக இருந்த Boomtown 2022, செப்டம்பர் 17, 2022 அன்று கொழும்பு 05 ஹென்றி பெட்ரிஸ் மைதானத்தில் மதியம் 12 மணியளவில் தொடங்கி வெற்றிகரமாக நடைபெற்றது. ஆற்றல்மிக்க நிகழ்ச்சிகள், அற்புதமான மேடைப்பாடல்கள் மற்றும் ஈர்க்கும் துடிப்புகள் நிறைந்த ஒரு கவர்ச்சியான இரவாக அன்றைய தினம் அமைந்தது.
இந்த நிகழ்வை எமது கழகத்தின் நிதித்துறை அவென்யூவுடன் கொழும்பு ஹெரிடேஜ் றோட்டராக்ட் கிளப் மற்றும் மொரட்டுவ பல்கலைக்கழக பழைய மாணவர்களின் ரோட்ராக்ட் கழகம் இணைந்து ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தனர். இந்தத் திட்டத்தின் மூலம் திரட்டப்படும் நிதியானது நோயாளிகளுக்கான முக்கியமான மருத்துவப் பொருட்கள் மற்றும் சிகிச்சைகளுக்கு உதவுவதற்காக மஹரகம அபேக்ஷா மருத்துவமனைக்கு நன்கொடையாக வழங்கப்படும். நமது நாட்டின் பொருளாதார நெருக்கடியின் விளைவாக ஏற்படும் நிதி பற்றாக்குறைத் தன்மையிலிருந்து புற்றுநோயாளிகள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் அச்சுறுத்தலை அகற்றுவதே எங்கள் திட்டத்தின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.
To ensure the success of this event the Rotaract Club of Colombo Heritage, the Rotaract Club of Alumni University of Moratuwa and our club did a great job, planning this event by finding the relevant sponsorships, approaching local businesses to set up stalls, decorating the venue, coordinating and organizing the open mic night.
The event was thronged with many individuals from diverse backgrounds including Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and the general public.
Boomtown 2022 kicked off with the food festival at 12 noon by satisfying the cravings of foodies who joined with us for this event. There were various food stalls filled with delicious food including Original Shawarma, Barista, Harpos, Prima, Tasty food, Naruto’s cafe, Chill coconut, Cocktail and Q-cafe. There were a few clothing stalls and mehendi stalls as well, which sparked the interest of many.
“Fun Land”, a game stall was also set up by our club’s International Service avenue to raise funds for the project “My ABC’s”. This is a spirited initiative to develop the English language skills of students in underprivileged areas all over Sri Lanka. The “My ABCs” project committee members organized fun activities for everyone to partake in, and face painting was one such colourful event.
Following that, the main segment was the open mic night. The Singers had a great opportunity to display their singing skills and create unforgettable memories. There were solos, duets, and trios that gave the entire night a melodic musical atmosphere.
Jcian Julius, Kaveen Bandara, Jaymi Alwis, Akmal Nimaladasa, Ishan Rivimal, Dhananjaya Siriwardana, Aakash Rayen, Dilushka De Mel, Thaaqi Jeffery, Schini Zoysa, Dinul Fernando, Manishka & Sachin, Samadi Kevin & Manu and the team Carpe Diem participated in the open mic night.
There is nothing like seeing people stand up and dance together when they hear a song they love, and a festival without a DJ is not a true festival. The DJ’s arrival was the most anticipated event following the final open-mic performance. DJ did a fantastic job keeping the crowd entertained till the end.

As the night came to an end, Boomtown 2022 was literally a blast. Everyone, of course, took full advantage of the incredible food and music available at this colourful night. This event will stand out on the Rotaract calendar and serve as a fantastic start for the RI year 2022-2023.
